Kap’s Golden Moments Part 2

Kap’s 50th birthday celebration continues!

Kung yung iba ay may kani-kanyang Friday group, my hunny naman has a long standing Wednesday group with his tennis friends. They call themselves the HILLS BOYS (because they play at Hillsborough). 😛 For years, it was sacrilegious to touch his Wednesday nights. As in naka-reserve na yang araw na yan, hindi pwedeng mag-date o maki-party from 4pm up.

So Kap was extra excited for this gathering of his tennis friends last Wednesday at the 3rd floor of Neil’s Kitchen in Westgate. Pinagsama-samang tennis groups from Mondays to Saturdays. He’s so fit, that’s why he doesn’t look a day over 40.. agree?

Neil’s Kitchen has an affordable buffet menu. 😉 Thai Typhoon at only 695+/person happens to be our favorite buffet choice among the options.

At Neil’s Kitchen (3rd floor), I didn’t have to worry about the physical arrangement anymore. I was thinking of bringing in balloons but didn’t have the time, so it was a pleasant surprise to walk up to this! \m/

I have always loved the copper chafing dishes of Michelle. I saw some in Bangkok, but too heavy to bring back home huhu. Included in the Thai Typhoon buffet are: Tom Yum soup (not in picture), Thai Spring Rolls, (I placed an extra order of Pork Satay kasi baka bitin ang handa)..

Thai Papaya Salad, Maker Muang (chicken with eggplant), Beef Green Curry, Pad Thai Noodles (not in picture), White rice, Mango sago, and 1 round of Iced Tea on top of the various wines & hard drinks we brought (corkage applies).

Happy the giblings made it from school. <3 I love that they make it a point to always be a part of Kap’s celebrations, no matter how busy their schedules are.

With the Super Friends. May bagong recruit, the LEES kung kanino kami nakitira in Quezon, remember?

Some of the Wednesday group & their lovely wives with whom I have gotten close to through the years.

Saturday group naman ito. Parang That’s Entertainment itong asawa ko, gumaya kay Kuya Germs, araw-araw may ibang grupo, trololol! ;))

We remain his constants though. <3 Dapat lang! (Jana stop tiptoeing & making me look so short! @_@ You’re not freakishly tall, haller!)

For his left & right intimate parties, I only ordered one custom cake kasi itong tennis party lang ang may theme, at madami-dami ang invitees (Kap had around 40 guests).

If you will notice, we tend to be loyal to our tried & tested suppliers. Pag may nagustuhan kaming subok na matibay at subok na matatag, we patronize ’til the end of time. ;)) And one of them is our friend & neighbor, Sharon Banocnoc, who has a home-based cake business as a hobby.

I have featured her on the blog several times.. click HERE & HERE for just some of her awesome cake creations! <3

Kap is not into chocolate so I ordered the orange-zest butter pound cake. All his guests loved the light & not-too-sweet flavor. Sharon only charged me 3k for this yummy cake. Oist, friendship price lang yan ha, baka pagumorder kayo ako pa ang pag-abonohin nyo! ;))

May kasabihan: Age is just a number, maturity is a choice. I guess we both choose to be young at heart hehe. Forever goofy with this one. <3 #pabebe

Itong Sabadong nakaraan lang, Kap had his Cuenca Boys over for another intimate dinner. No wives, just the boys this time around, so I banished myself upstairs para uncensored & unfiltered ang chikahan nila.

The Cuenca Boys (also known as the Pusoy Boys) are composed of his very first group of friends here in the village when we first moved more than 2 decades ago. Basketball games are long gone, and most have gone their separate ways -finding love & losing love, but the friendship still remains. 😉

Another round of yummy dishes by Neil’s Kitchen. Whatever will I do without you? Thank you again & again for worry-free parties, big or small. On the table: Fresh lumpia in cilantro wrap 995 x 2, Chicken galantina 1595 x2, Pasta putanesca 1295, Fish fillet with tomato sauce 1195, and Callos 1595. Truly the best. <3 (I asked our sexy Chef to make Pasta Carbonara & ready-to-cook marinated steak in the ref in case mabitin coz -all boys!) Surprisingly, nagkasya ang munting handa ni Kap my Kap. I guess pag nagkaka-edad mahina na ang kain hahaha.

Kap’s salo-salo # 6.. and counting. Lester Suntay (2nd from the left) was just a college student when he & Kap met. Now 20 years later, he’s a highly sought-after & respected pediatric surgeon in the country. The very amiable Hitler Sarao (Kap’s right) was Kap’s very first friend in Ayala Alabang- he is ninong to both Jana & Jena and has remained close over the years. Ren Cayetano (Kap’s left) was also just a college student when he & Kap met, now he owns a string of businesses selling toys & collectibles. We went on triple dates before with Ariel Arce & Hitler. He lost love, found love, lost love, and found love again (final na daw talaga this time around). In his late 50’s, he is about to become a dad all over again to a bay boy. \m/ (inggit ako) Congratulations to Ariel & Mitch, and cheers to second chances & lifetime happiness! <3 Many were absent, busy lives and all. But they remain in Kap’s heart.

Sign of a good time? Dinig ang mga boses hanggang kwarto, lol. But we didn’t mind because we knew they were having a hoot mag-alaskahan! ;P

I asked them to call me back doe when it’s time for dessert. For sweets, my good friend Aggy Villabona sent over some of her new specials from Aggys Cakes and Sweets – definitely not something I want to miss! (Btw, Aggy also makes the prettiest & yummiest custom cakes for all occasions. CLICK HERE to see the cake she made for Jena’s 17th birthday. Do check out her facebook page to see more of her wonderful cake creations.)

With his small parties left & right, I’ve run out of food ideas, more particularly with desserts. So thankful to my good friend Aggy for coming to my rescue and sending over her latest bestsellers.. CAKES IN CANS! Chocolate Delirium php 495 – Aggy’s version of the trending Dream Cake. A recipe she made in the early 90’s, revised to meet today’s taste. Sansrival php 695, Choco lava php 495, and Chocolate moist Caramel php 495

The crowd favorite was obviously the Sans Rival (yellow). Pagbaba ko ubos na, waah! Next was the Chocolate Moist Caramel (with swirls), as in 1 kutsara-ful nalang ang natitita so I grabbed it na to taste. 😛 The Choco Lava came in 3rd (also my Lovey’s choice, I got to bring her up some hehe). And I was surprised that they didn’t touch the Chocolate Delirium. I guess because the men preferred sweet chocolate. Aggy’s Chocolate Delirium was made of bitter chocolate, so I was happy to have the remaining half all to myself. For dark chocolate lovers, this one is definitely for you! <3 Also perfect for gifting as they come in nicely-packaged tin cans.. uber moist cake to the last bite! 😉

Just the other day, nag-blow out naman si Kap for his Barako Boys. ;)) This is his 7th handa for the month, ang saya-saya. Initially I suggested sa Cabalen nalang lahat pakainin para eat-all-you-can at matuwa naman sila. Kap’s dilemma though is he can’t close shop mid-day. So may mga maiiwan na pump boys & won’t be able to join, which he found unfair. Kaya magpaluto nalang daw. He is really thoughtful that way.

I agreed on the condition that at least may Lechon para naman special din ang handa for the boys. Ok daw. He is also really kunat that way. ;)) Nakalusot!

😛 Featuring some of his Barako boys & his Petron girls. Others were working, so by shift ang kaininan. 😛

Basta’t salo-salo ang pamilya, kahit anong handa, masaya. And Kap really treats his workers like family, that’s why they stay with him forever – walang iwanan. Pati utang, pahabaan ang listahan! ;)) Oo plato ko yan, please don’t judge. 😛 #tomguts

Ang nakakatawa, after this last celebration, I asked Kap to give me 2 more dates for his remaining get-togethers: his college group & our badminton group.
