Day 17 – Vegas (01/06)

This is the 2nd Sunday that we’ve missed church. Parang may kulang talaga since praise & worship has always been a part of our week. It feels weird not getting ready to go to church today. Next Sunday though, Ate already included Hillsong LA in our itinerary. Sorry po Lord God for missing 2 Sundays already when You have blessed us with so so much. :'(

Everybody is sick at this point. Even Ate who is forever perky, hirap na gumising & is favoring the bed over the road lol. Our travels always take a huge toll on us because we want to see everything & not miss a single thing!

After struggling to get out of bed, we finally walked out of HRH at noon & headed for some concrete jungle sightseeing. First (and the only one we were able to see complete as a family) on our list for the day is the magnificent Bellagio Hotel & Casino.

Bellagio is a resort, luxury hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It is owned and operated by MGM Resorts International and was built on the site of the demolished Dunes hotel and casino. Inspired by the Lake Como town of Bellagio in Italy, Bellagio is famed for its elegance. One of its most notable features is an 8-acre (3.2 ha) lake between the building and the Strip, which houses the Fountains of Bellagio, a large dancing water fountain synchronized to music.

Gotta eat to keep up our strength. On Ate’s food trip short list is Hash House a Go Go at the LINQ Hotel known for its famous sage fried chicken & waffles. Hindi man type ni Kap mag-country food, wala sayang magawa -the tribe has spoken! 😛

Hash House a Go Go prides itself for its twisted farm food. Twisted as in kakaiba – hindi baluktot. It’s definitely not your ordinary country food, tignan nyo nalang itong mga order namin. No wonder it’s always packed with food enthusiasts like us. Hash House certainly put a crazy spin on midwest comfort meals -from pancakes, to meatloafs, and everything else in between!

By the time we finished lunch, nilalagnat na si pogi, so Kap dropped off the 3 of us at the hotel to recuperate. Then he and Ate finished the rest of the hotel hopping tour on their own.

Kap is quite happy that the 1st hour parking is free EVERYWHERE we go haha.

Ate is the artist in the family. So when she found out that Yayoi Kusama had an exhibit called “Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrored Room” – “Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity” at the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Arts, she made it a point to drop by even for a few minutes to enjoy Kusama’s work. Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art is Las Vegas’ premier rotating exhibition space organized in partnership with museums and foundations both nationally and internationally. BGFA is committed to presenting intimate exhibitions in its 2600 sq. ft. space featuring works by some of the world’s most compelling artists. When Linda.. er Ate pala, had her fill, and I was able to nebulize (my lungs are already making loud wheezing sounds, parang ako tuloy ang nasasaniban, hindi si Linda) they came back for us & we took off for the Las Vegas North Premium Outlet which is just around 10 minutes away.

Yan, pag ganyang shopping, jan ako maaasahan hahaha. Si Kap naman ang parang lalagnatin sa nerbyos ngayon. 😛

Because we only had a short time to spend at the outlet which was closing soon, we just zeroed in on Neiman Marcus Last Call & Saks Off 5th – both clearance stores that had carried high end designer labels. Ate was able to score a Givenchy slip on at Saks for more than 50% off. Good job Ate!

The kids loved the chives dimsum we had for lunch yesterday, so they asked their dad if we can eat at Orchids Garden again one last time. Haller, chinese food, tatanggi ba si Kap my Kap?

Not a day has passed since we set foot in the US that we did not eat in a chinese restaurant. it’s like our stint in Europe all over again, omg! REMEMBER???

After having our fill, we headed down to Fremont East, Downtown for the famous Fremont Street Experience – of which one of the most popular is the illuminated Space Frame..

The Space Frame, rising 90 feet in height and stretching almost 1,400 feet along Fremont Street from Main Street to Fourth Street, has created a spectacular foyer for the existing resorts. Holding the space frame aloft are 16 columns, each weighing 26,000 pounds and capable of bearing 400,000 pounds, and 43,000 struts. The space frame is the venue for the Light and Sound Show. Set into the inner surface of the space frame are nearly 12.5 million LEDs. Within the space frame are 208 speakers capable of producing 550,000 watts of sound. Thirty-two computers generate animated images perfectly syncopated to sound. The Light and Sound Show is presented nightly on the hour from dusk until midnight. This is a MUST SEE when in Vegas, do not miss!

The Pedestrian Mall was created when Fremont Street was closed permanently to vehicular traffic, making it the sole domain of people. The asphalt has been replaced by landscaping and patterned paving forming winding paths that encourage visitors to stroll through this unique outdoor venue. When the Light and Sound Show is not being presented, music is played over the sound system while a variety of entertainers come up with their own spiels. Be ready to shell out some moolah when you stop to engage & take pictures though.

Aside from the Space Frame, Fremont Street provides free live music on several stages, as well as a new addition, the SlotZilla zip line attraction. Fremont Street Experience is a full-on street party covering five blocks in historic downtown Las Vegas lined with bars and casinos. Fremont Street Experience provides access to 10 casinos, more than 60 restaurants, and numerous bars inside and out attracting millions of visitors each year.

Then capped off our evening right where we started – Bellagio for the fountain show..

Nagbayad ako sa gala sa lamig -nahamugan ang bumbunan ko, the whole night I was wheezing like crazy. Hindi na ako pwede matulog ng nakahiga, parang truck sa highway na sira and tambutcho ang hininga ko – which of course kept everybody awake, kawawa naman. Kap propped me up on 6 pillows just so we can get finally some shut eye. Kulang nalang matulog ako ng patayo.

I think this is the worst asthma attack I’ve had. Kahit ako, natakot. Feeling ko katapusan na ng buhay ko. Eh hindi pa ako nakakabili ng bag? Wag po muna Lord. 😉 Joke! 😛

Last full day in Vegas today. Then a 4 hour drive to L.A. tomorrow. I really really hope that the weathet will be better there para hindi na ako hikain. I kenat da sobrang cold ahuhu.
