Food & Dining Staycations & Vacations The GOppets

Day 16 – Vegas (01/05)

Love HRH’s outdoor heater!

Kap was the first one to get sick, then he infected Meni & me. Tapos Ate followed suit, oh no!! I hope my Babyson doesn’t catch it! @_@

Jena & I kept coughing alternately the whole night through that we kept everyone awake, kawawa. We all woke up sluggish & disoriented tuloy in spite of our warm room & cozy beds. Our eyebags are as big as Vuitton maletas na hehe.

Ganyan kami lagi when on a “vacation”, napansin nyo? Nagkakasakit kami dahil sa sobrang pagod lol. I don’t think this is what a normal family does when they go abroad. Zomg.

Again, thankful for our car. The weather here in Vegas is similar to NY. Meaning, nakakangisay sa lamig. At least we don’t have to take public transpo anymore for the rest of our stay (how I wish I can say for the rest of my life!) 😛

Babala: You take it, you pay for it.

Before anything else, Kap dragged us to the drugstore to buy meds -NyQuil to be exact. Yan lang ang medyo nakapagpatahimik sa grabeng ubo namin ni Jena, so CVS to the rescue. <3 I just realised, I should have stocked up, wala yatang ganyan dito sa Maynila??

And hoarding of water. Lots & lots of water. Water for the car, water for our room, water for our bags! Tubig, tubig, and more tubig!
Isoli mo yan, ISOLI MO!” Duh, naiunuman ko na, ok ka lang?
So we had to rush out early to buy a replacement bago daw mapansin ng housekeeping na pinakialaman ko ang laman ng ref at ma-charge kami ng wala sa oras, HAHAHAHAHA!

Oh Kap my Kap, kaya ako hinihika eh, lakas ng stress ko sayo! 😛
Because we skipped breakfast (Kap makes us eat only TWICE a day. Mangangayayat ako nyan!), we had a big lunch at Orchids – ya guessed it, Chinese resto parin. Hanggang Vegas talaga yan ang pagkain namin.

To be fair, the food here is pretty good. So good that we ate here TWICE, two consecutive days that we were in Vegas. That’s how much we enjoyed the food, especially the dim sum.

And you know what happens when the kids are drunk on food (and vetsin), they go reeeally cray..

One of the reasons we made it a point to make Las Vegas part of our US itinerary in spite of the long drive was, Kap is a HUGE fan of Pawn Stars (Rick Harrison’s Gold & Silver Pawn Shop). As in ito ang pumalit sa Eat Bulaga noontime viewing nya. Walang paltos, he would watch this show every single day at hindi mo talaga sya makakausap habang nanunuod! So the kids made sure their Dad got to see the shop LIVE.

Pawn Stars is a series about a family-run pawnshop in Las Vegas, where three generations of the Harrison family use their sharp-eyed skills to assess what’s real and what’s fake. Objects that the customers bring in range from the obscure to the truly historic, and it’s up to the guys at the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop (with help at times from their network of experts) to reveal the sometimes surprising answer to `What’s this worth?’.

I really don’t know how or WHY Kap became obsessed with this show. Eh hindi naman sya nagsasangla, lol. I asked him several times, ang sagot lang nya sa akinnakakatawa sila“. Ganon? Eh bakit ako hindi naman naaaliw sa kanila? ;P

Mark Hall Patton was the featured “star” of Pawn Stars that day. The celebrity owners & cast members take turns gracing the shop. Expert in 20th century artifacts and history, and administrator of the Clark County Heritage Museum and the Howard W. Cannon Aviation Museum at McCarran Airport, Mark Hall-Patton affectionately nicknamed The Beard of Knowledge, is the expert most often consulted by the Harrisons when it comes to antiques stage-pawned at their shop.

Yaaas. This is the same Kap who made a big deal of my water consumption from the hotel’s mini bar. Only to buy a $30 shirt na pang-autograph lang pala at wala man lang intensyong suotin okay. GRAAABEH! Ibang level.

Pero nuknukan ka man ng kunat Honey ko, I’m still head over heels in love with you & I’ll marry you all over again. Again & again, paulit-ulit. Renewed our vows at the Little Vegas Chapel. Too bad Elvis wasn’t in the house, it would’ve made for a hilarious wedding.

“It’s a beautiful day, we’re looking for something dumb to do. Hey baby, I think I wanna marry you..” With his best man & my maid of honor (si Bae ang flower girl, wag kayong mangamba, kasali sya). ;))

“I have died everyday waiting for you. Darling don’t be afraid I have loved you, for a thousand years. I’ll love you for a thousand more”

“Baby, I’m dancing in the dark with you between my arms. Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song I have faith in what I see. Now I know I have met an angel in person and he looks perfect. I don’t deserve this, you look perfect tonight..”

“Give your all to me, I’ll give my all to you. You’re my end and my beginning, even when I lose I’m winning. ‘Cause I give you all, all of me. And you give me all, all of you.”

I, Jane, take you, Jeffrey aka Kapitan Kunat, to be my husband & to live together in marriage. I promise to love you in spite of your shortcomings, understand you when you put me on a tight budget, and comfort you when I go crazy on store sales. I promise to Honor and keep you – for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health. And forsaking all others, be faithful only to you, for as long as we both shall live. <3 Wala kang kawala sa akin Honey, you’re mine forever.

Did a customary run of the strip, admiring the hotel facades & all that the quirky city of Vegas has to offer.

Then ended up with a simple dinner at Fashion Show Mall before we hit up a hotel or 2 prior to retiring for the night. We were bushed running around the colorful city!

🙂 The sole staff of Nathan’s was a Filipina. HAHAHAHAHA!

Dead to the bones but gotta keep up with the program. Headed to Caesar’s Palace para maki-usi.

This is just for my photo-op. Kap has never been one to gamble & he leads our family by great example. Walang bisyo. He doesn’t encourage the kids to play the slots. He always reminds us that money is hard-earned & shouldn’t be squandered off in a game of chance. <3 Good job Daddy.

The casino is just not our scene so we just walked around & enjoyed the other amenities of the hotel. We always manage to have fun naman whenever we’re together. 😉

Our coughs have worsened so we called it a day & finally headed home to HRH. Bukas na uli, Bayan.
Besides, kinasal kami diba? It’s time for our honeymoon..
