It was a fun-filled party season last February. Ang dami naming Feb babies, ang dami din naming may topak HAHAHAHAHA! 😛

Many joke that those born in the shortest month of the year, may mga sayad daw at konting tililing kasi nga kulang yung buwan sa araw. Hmmnnn, I may have to agree on that, lol. But in fairness, we are also the sweetest people on earth. And the happiest! 😉

Last month, my super friendship Sheila -the cheeriest, most fun loving person alive on the planet, I swear, turned 50. And her thoughtful hubby & daughters gave her a party to remember at the ultra posh Okada Manila.

No fail, year after year, Sheila’s parties are themed. Hindi na ako natuto, I always buy baubles, then lose them after attending one of her leitmotif celebrations. Thank goodness for kind & generous lady friends who quickly came to my aid & lent me accessories for this Gatsby-inspired festivity! <3

One time, Sheila’s theme was “Prom Night”. And yes, your eyes are not deceiving you. With us are 80’s heartthrobs Gabby Concepcion & William Martinez. ;P #habanghair

My friend Regine is accessory-cray, so I knew who to run to for baubles! She was so sweet to lend me several necklaces to choose from & also this perfect 20’s-style bonnet! Faye on the other hand, had just the right accessory for it. A feathered floral pin, yehey! With that, my outfit was complete! <3 Thank you so much dear ladies! :-*

I also couldn’t find the matching mantle to this long black fringed dress, hay. Thankfully, big is in now so Ate was able to lend me her embellished kimono. Tumerno naman for my 20’s look. Whatever will I do without you my Jangi? ILY!! :-* Voila! Do I look like a Gatsby lady?

Golden Ballrooms 1 & 2 of Okada Manila were reserved for Shiela’s birthday party. Dinner was buffet style which was perf coz we came hungry hehe.

Sheila is so loved by her husband Nonoy, and 3 girls. I was witness to how many times she teared up that night by their heartfelt speeches, fun song and dance numbers, and sentimental video presentation. I am so very happy for you my super friendship! You deserve all their love & adoration. :-*

Every time I see Sheila, she has this big smile pasted on her face. Nothing & no one can ever get this tough lady down. She is simply a bright ray of sunshine & everyone in her path can’t help but bask & share in her joyful & positive demeanor. <3

Entertainment was provided by the 80’s Filipino king of rock himself, Juan Miguel Salvador. Still so energetic after all these years! For those of you who weren’t born yet during his stint, Juan Miguel Salvador is a Filipino singer and the vocalist of the once-upon-a-time ultra popular Rage Band.

Indeed, popularity fades, but not talent as you can see on the videos below. <3 A throwback 80’s party just isn’t complete without this veteran musician who now performs with The Authority – a younger set of members, at bars around the metro (specifically every Thursday at Strumms, and every Mondays & Fridays at Bar 360 in RWM). Catch him & his kinetic energy there! 😉

His energy is so contagious! He even got my normally laid-back Kap dancing, lol! If you’re interested in hiring him, be ready to drop a cool 150k for 2 sets! Totes worth it though, all of us tanders guests were happy & never left the dance floor hahaha!

My dearest super friendship. Turning 50 is when we realize that life is not a race. Life at this stage in our lives is a wonderful prize. We need to start slowing down & begin to cherish even the quirky moments that once seemed garish. Such is life after the age of 50. Beautiful (like you), captivating (also like you), and utterly heavenly (syempre naman, ikaw pa din). I love you, happy happy birthday! :-*
