Food & Dining My Kids Staycations & Vacations The GOppets

Summer Holiday

We’re all going on a summer holiday, no more working for a week or two.
Fun and laughter on our summer holiday, no more worries for me or you, for a week or two.
We’re going where the sun shines brightly, we’re going where the sea is blue.
We’ve all seen it on the movies, now let’s see if it’s true.

My summer plans didn’t pan out. Like I said in my previous post, I was gunning for Bangkok at least (closest, most convenient since no visa required, and least expense involved). But since Kap already took us to Indonesia just a couple of months ago (next 5 posts), na-shelve ang project BKK ko.

Kap & I enjoyed our short stint there during his birthday getaway, but the kids didn’t get to tag along kasi nga “honeymoon” kami. So I was thinking I’d surprise them with a summer trip.

Kaso mo, naunahan nga kami ni Kap sa Indonesia. So our budget was used up for that trip. Nagkataon pang the 2 older kids asked for a laptop upgrade (yes, may utang akong gift sa bebelove ko), not to mention med school tuition for the 2 older kids. Kaya balik “0” balance na naman ang Goppets family savings hehe.

Para naman hindi sila ma-disappoint, we took short trips to the mountain & the beach. Puro wandering souls ang pamiya ko, hindi pwedeng walang kaganapannababagot silang tunay.

I thought the weather would improve considerably this July. Wrong. It’s gotten even hotter! 35 degrees ang temp in Manila, so we hied off to Baguio overnight to cool off a bit.

Kap was willing to splurge & book us a room in The Manor. Unfortunately, it was filled to capacity – apparently because of the ongoing discount promo. So we made do with Azalea Residences since Kap wanted an apartment style accommodation, para sama-sama pa rin kami in one big area.

Then as a last hurrah before Ate goes to Clerkship, Kap took us to Anilao just last week to play with his toys. There’s this nice accommodation at The Glasshouse, unfortunately again since all our trips were impromptu, booked na sya. So Kap rented a house in VilBros Resort instead since it had a slipway nearby for his jetskis.

As always, I wasn’t happy with the sand, the bugs, and nature in general. But I gotta choose my battles. Also, our accommodation wasn’t stellar, but we had to consider the slipway. So he won this time around, hay.

Buti nalang the Dayrits finally finished their beach house in Anilao & invited us to spend the 2 days there. So I was mollified somewhat. Para akong nasa 5-star resort! 😉

And just like that, we’re halfway through the kids’ summer vacay -over na for Ate huhu. But at least we have Christmas break to look forward to. 6 months, mabilis nalang yan! 😉
