Call me KJ (kill joy) but I am all for the ban on pyros. For those of you who have been reading my blog for quite some time now, you may recall that I grew up in a hospital. 18 years I lived in a hospital owned by my parents. And every single year, I’d see people being rushed to the emergency room with missing fingers. Sometimes, missing eyes too! It’s always been a bloody new year for me, the horrors! @_@

Lotsa peeps may think that this is too KJ & that the Prez is taking away too much from mankind & abolishing age-old tradition. But I really, fully agree on this one. Too much blood has been unnecessarily shed already, me thinks.

Walang paltos yan. Every single year. Puno ang emergency room ni Inay. So when it was my turn to have my own family, we never really explored the possibilities of firecrackers. Thank goodness Kap is of the same mind. Actually, nanghihinanyang sya kasi sinusunog lang daw ang pera kapag bumili ng mga paputok haha. His issue is more on the gastos rather than the accident caused by firecrackers. We may not be on the same page, but hey, the ending is the same, so okay na rin. ;P

Because we are hella Pinoys, loz, of course we disobey! 😛 Still plenty of she-bang the eve before the new year. But maybe in a couple of years, we can achieve total ban. If Davao can do it, I believe so can the rest of the country. 😉 Besides, less expenditure on firecrackers mean more food on the table, yehey! \m/

Mabuti na rin lang at hindi nakahiligan ng mga bata ang paputok! For the past 22 years, we’d been celebrating the new year with just torotots. They seem okay with it. 😉 This year is no different. What’s more important for us is that we are together & complete.

Oh Lord, please bless the food before us, the family beside us, and the love between us. Amen.
My raclette melter is out once again & makes a special new year’s eve appearance. <3
Something new though, is our homemade nachos. My Bae & I had lotsa fun making this dish & pouring stuff in. Our first time! Ingredients: Nachos, Tostitos Queso Dip, Tostitos Salsa Dip, Sour Cream, Jalapeños, Ground beef.
I also ordered a platter of cheese & cold cuts to pair with sparkling champagne as we welcome in 2017.
The lolas woke up just in time for greetings, kisses, and media noche. I don’t think they were able to sleep soundly with all the outdoor noise anyway, teehee.
Word of caution: It is so wrong to play with your food, so please don’t. Kap & I are just silly old geese, always fooling around & playing with each other like little kids. ;)) We are such bad examples to the younger generation hehe. Don’t worry, we don’t make a habit of doing this.

It’s so nice that Christmas & New Year fell on a Sunday, worship day, so we were able to start the year right filled with God’s word. #busoglusog
Sermon of the day: Prayer. Focusing on the bible verse 1 Thessalonians 5:17 – Pray unceasingly.

Our speaker for new year’s day was Pastor Ricky Sarthtou. We were all moved by his message, and that of Ivy Wee who gave a testimony of how prayer has helped her get through an almost broken marriage, Breast Cancer, husband’s prostate cancer scare, and how it is helping her cope with a new form of cancer now in her lungs. Pastor Sarthou is no stranger to CA as his wife Agnes is a Cancer survivor. It was certainly a very emotional Sunday which stressed that with prayers, nothing is impossible.
With food for the soul over by noon, it was time to feed the tummy! <3 Just like last CHRISTmas, we picked up another best seller from Neil’s Kitchenfor lunch. Nothing says special day more than pot roast! \m/ 2,800 php per kilo, minimum of 4 kilos (just right for our household of 12), this U.S. Black Angus Rib Eye Roast Beef comes with mashed potato & mushroom gravy. Loooove! <3
Garlicky on the outside, and pink on the inside. Yuuum!
Again, the surgeon & the surgeon general. ;))
First day of 2017. May we always remember to start & end our day with prayers. Prayers don’t have to be long & elaborate. Just close your eyes & open your heart to Jesus, He hears your unspoken words. He prefers us to have a heart without words, than words without a heart anyway. Whenever trials & challenges come our way, never forget the most powerful resource we have available to us any time, any day, any place: PRAYER. Remember, Prayer does not change God, but it changes him who prays.

A brand new year is on the way, and the possibilities are endless. We start with a blank page of a 365 book. Let’s all strive to write a good one. :-* #InGodWeTrust #Amen
Kami rin, Ms. Jane, it’s been years since my family bought our own fireworks. What usually happens is the (extended) family gathers at our house to watch fireworks from our balcony right before 12midnight. Then wine and cheese, plus whatever is left over from dinner (Marami nang senior citizens sa family kaya maaga ang kain! Bawal magutom!), and most importantly… good times being together. Priceless!
Wishing you a great 2017, Ms. Jane and the GOppets!
