Food & Dining Staycations & Vacations The GOppets

Day 6 – NYC (12/26)

Because we were able to catch up on our itinerary yesterday, little miss exorcist was a bit chill today & didn’t harass us to get on with the program, lol.

Checked out NYU or New York University. The kids bought souvenirs since alam nilang hindi namin afford ng Daddy nila na paaralin sila jan. Kaya hanggang t-shirt, jaket at ballpen nalang sila bilang ala-ala. 😛

Bagay kayo ah. Parang #youbelong. ;P

In the meantime, magkasya nalang muna kayo sa mga souvenir items hihi.

Had a leisurely walk to lunch at Artichoke Basille’s Pizza. I’m surprised at how knowledgeable Ate is when it comes to the popular destinations abroad. Talagang inaaral nyang mabuti bawat lugar na pupuntahan namin, kaya naman nakakahiya din to let her down because of the effort she puts into planning our trip & making sure we get the most out of our family bonding.

In 2008, two cousins left the family business in Staten Island to take on Manhattan’s cutthroat pizza scene. (Oh yes, if you haven’t eaten a slice of pizza when in NYC, you haven’t really lived!) A little over a decade later, they’ve grown BIG with locations scattered all over the country! Artichoke Basille’s Pizza owners Sal Basille and Francis Garcia star in the Cooking Channel’s “Pizza Masters” – a U.S. series, now on its second season. After growing up in the restaurant industry, the first cousins, whose parents co-owned Basille’s in Staten Island, decided to put their pizza mastery to the test and strike out on their own. And strike big they did.

The artichoke pizza (L) was THE BOMB. Well worth the $6/slice hehe. Kahit si Kap hindi na naka-angal. Ayan si Ate oh, katakawan! ;)) Menawhile, I preferred the crustier (twice baked in a pan!) & spicier version – The Sicilian.

The boys don’t feel full though pag walang rice, so they crossed the street to the asian resto, Mighty Bowl, for what else? Eh di rice bowls. The servers are all asian, natuwa sila kay Kap kasi pini-R sila ng husto, so Kap got a compli kropek with matching sawsawang suka hehe.

We were able to try these Pommes Frites in Belgium 2 years ago, so when the girls saw this cafe offering some, they requested for chunky fries, pang-throwback ba. 😛

These fried potatoes are big & crispy. May pa-CR pa mwahaha!

Our day turned out to be a food trip kind of day. ;))

Good thing too coz we were able to do our “business” there. Napakahirap pala maki-CR dito sa Amerika hay naku. Lahat nila-lock. You can only use if you buy something or patronize the place. HAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh honey, you crack me up! 😛

After lunch, the girls & the boys went separate ways. The boys for some manly shopping, and the ladies (meaning the 2 girls), to shop around noho & soho ’til they drop. Nagpaiwan nalang ako sa coffeeshop as usual. Hindi ko type ang American brands, so no shopping for me. Paguwi nalang, dun ako sa Greenbelt, mwahaha! *insert evil laugh here*

@_@ #bigyanngjaket

Met up for dinner. Wah Fung, the roasting take-out place Ate wanted to try ran out of peking duck. So we just went back to the first chinese resto in chinatown we tried for a quick dinner before heading home.

It was a pretty chill day today. Sigurado ako, bukas, pagbabayaran ko itong easy life ahuhu.

“Travelling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller”

I hope I’m doing our travel justice. 🙂
