The Big Move

The Big Move, if you can call it that, is being done in installments. The kids have minds of their own now, and they want certain specifications with regards to their rooms. Ok lang, sila naman kasi ang titira. I want them to be happy & comfortable in their rooms which will serve as their haven. But I was itching to transfer & decorate already! So Kap allowed me to transfer the downstairs furnitures from our current home to the new one, with the understanding that I will not transfer any of the upstairs furnitures as he was going to re-paint & re-tile according to the kids’ wishes.

Our home for the past 18 years. We bought this 4-bedroom house when my babyson was born to accommodate our growing family. Before this, our first house was just a 3-bedroom bungalow, tight for a starting family with a toddler, an infant, a dog, AND A SET OF IN-LAWS! :P

I am an accumulator of things and a hoarder. Lahat yan, sumama sa paglipat. Sikisikan uli sa lilipatang bahay!

Buti nga pumayag pa si Kap! Nung una sabi ko sala lang. Then nadagdagan ng dining room. Tapos may patio na & kitchen hehe. Now he really put his foot down & ordered me to STOP. Do not pass Go! Eh di fine. Hmp! So now I have to wait another month or 2, depending on the kaartehan of the kids, before we can finally transfer. I’m hoping BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY. Kids, nababasa nyo ba ito??? Gusto ko nang lumipaaat!

So for now, all I can show you is snippets of our downstairs.

Our 4-level, 6-bedroom house now just a stone’s throw away. Same size lang as the old one but perfect with one room for each member of the family. Like every Filipino home with extended families, we always have a full house. #SamaSama #HappyTogether

Tara, pasok kayo sa aming munting tahanan? <3 Lelly inspects her new home. I wonder what she thinks of it. We didn’t consult her, lol.

The kids wanted modern furniture –pang mashonda daw kasi ang taste ko (Hello!), but to buy new living & dining room sets would require mucho MUCHO dinero. Something Kap would not allow. And so, lumang gamit pa rin. Sorry kids. Pag nanalo nalang tayo sa lotto.

My china cabinet is now a display cabinet since our living room is slightly bigger & has more space. With this new set-up, the girls have 1 sala each na when suitors come a-knockin’! ;)) At least may privacy sila for whispering sweet nothings to each other hehe.

The biggest challenge for us was moving the baby grand piano. Grabeng dusa talaga at katakut-takot na brasuhan with matching balde-baldeng pawis. So thankful for the invaluable assistance of my Kuya & his macho macho men who helped me transfer ALL my ground floor belongings. <3

Even my little christmas tree wasn’t allowed to retire yet. Ubos na ang pondo ni Kap, teehee! Sad-looking daw kasi maliit na, luma pa, according to the kids. I said how can a tree be sad when the home is full of love? Tama?

O ayan, mukhang happy tree na naman diba? And remember, good things come in small packages. ;) True-la-loo!

I was hoping for a bigger dining room sana to accommodate guests. But because of my 2 newly-refurbished consoles, plus my old buffet cabinet, mas lumiit pa yata at sumikip! That’s my sexy chef helping me sort things out.

Ang resulta, table for 6. Maximum of 8. No elbow room at 10 if ipipilit. Sit-down style na dapat  instead of buffet-style. Hindi lang nga matching ang upuan sa 8-10. Pagtyagaan na muna, mahina ang kalaban. :P Pardon the red table cloth, that is only for this christmas season. :) I will buy a muted beige/cream-colored table cloth when time permits.

See? Masikip talaga. Labo-labo na! ;)) Our impromptu house warming 3 weeks ago when my SIL & her kids visited my mom at walang inabutang furnitures sa bahay. May bago na akong chargers & plates ngayon ha. Come visit me? Basta magdala kayo ng sariling upuan!

Even our kasambahays have a place to talk & text! :P I love my new mala-bato-batong pocket garden. Takot lang akong ma-dengue so I’m not sitting there. Hanggang dungaw lang ako.

My Lovey’s old duyan & rattan lounge chair from her room has been re-assigned to the Patio. She’s done with the beach theme. I was hoping to get a teppan table for this area but seeing how full the space already is, mukhang hindi na matutuloy ang aking munting pangarap.

I’m so happy we now have a loft which will serve as my babyson’s room. I have always wanted a loft. Gusto ko nga sana kami ni Kap sa “penthouse” but the stairs going up is a bitch for a couple of old-timers like us. :P

This is not yet my dream house. My dream house is more of modern-asian inspired. The kids laugh at me coz my peg is Chairman Wang’s in Molito haha. If you have been, and seen the interiors, mga ganun tipo.

My modern-asian peg. Chairman Wang’s interiors haha.

Nagbago na rin ang taste ko in furnitures & decor. But then again, saka na. Masyado nang madaming gastos. What’s important is that Kap & I provide homes for each of the 3 kids first & secure their future. I want them to always have a roof over their heads, a sanctuary they can always go to.

My taste now is geared towards modern-asian. Like this house, but BIGGER with more vacant space! :P #LibreAngMangarap

Kahit mahuli na kami. I hope I’m still alive when the time comes that Kap & I can finally build a house to our specification. We already built a home na naman, siguro pwede na yun. ;) Diba, home is where the heart is? And wherever Kap & the 3 kids are, that is my true home.

My heart, my home.

Mga anak, wag nyo kaming itapon sa home for the aged pagtanda namin ha? Hindi yun ang home na gusto ko!
