Etiquette for Mistresses

I’m sure by now you’ve ALL watched Kris Aquino’s latest movie, Etiquette for Mistresses. My post is so two-thousand-and-late! 😛

Etiquette-for-Mistresses

I may be a Kris Aquino fan but I found Cheena “Crab” Alimagno‘s acting the most effortless among ALL. With Claudine Barretto following close behind.

I watched it on the SECOND day & dragged my poor Lovey into watching it with me hehe. As you may know, I’m a Kris Aquino fantard. So after picking up my daughter from school, I drove us straight to Commercenter to catch the next screening. Wala na syang nagawa! 😛

At wala rin talaga akong kaayos-ayos diba. Parang naghilamos lang at nag-mall na, lol! 😛 It was only in the car as I was waiting for my Lovey to come down that I browsed my phone & saw that the movie was already showing! So without my kilay & lipstick, sumugod kami sa cinema. 😛

Of course I don’t condone having mistresses, or the lifestyle of one. Sino ba ang gustong may kahati sa asawa diba. At sino din ba ang may gustong second best lagi -always waiting in the sideline. The simple truth is, Love is love. And you don’t choose the person you fall in love with. It hits you like a speeding truck, mahirap turuan ang puso. I can only hope & pray that my kids -the girls especially, find men worthy of them. Men who would put them first, and would value them for the wonderful people that they are.

Anyway, my daughter is old enough & wise enough to know what is factual & what is strictly for entertainment. I want to believe that we have raised her to have good values and she has seen with her own two eyes how dedicated her dad is to us, his family. And how his love & commitment to us has made them well-rounded, happy, confident children. So I was pretty sure that taking her to watch the movie was in no way letting her know I approve of the act.

When the book by Jullie Yap Daza came out, I was fascinated by it. Aba, may etiquette pa pala ang mga mistresses of the 20th century! I found it hilarious. Well, at least there’s a guideline para naman umayos sila.

ETIQUETTE FOR MISTRESSES by Julie Yap Daza

The 28 golden rules for mistresses:
1. Mistress is not Mrs. Know your place.
2. Even if he tells you he loves you more than his wife, don’t let that go to your head.
3. Mistresses should be ready to give up Valentine’s Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s
Day, Holy Week and his birthday. (that’s why mistresses are also called “holiday
orphans” because of this)
4. Befriend his secretary but avoid all contact with his driver. (Whether he is a company driver or the family driver, the chauffeur is not to be trusted. Family drivers owe their allegiance to whoever pays them their salary and who feeds them the free meals in the kitchen with the other help. In short, they are loyal to the Mrs. more than the Mr.)
5. As tempting as it seems, don’t patronize the wife’s beauty parlor, jewelry shop, dress
shop, or father confessor.
6. Don’t call him, wait for him to call.
7. To be seen with him in public once is risky. The second time could be fatal to one of you. The third time is The End for both of you (love is lovelier when it’s forbidden.Because it’s forbidden, it’s supposed to be hidden)
8. Never believe, and never say anything unfriendly about his wife, not even after he recites a litany of her faults.
9. Mistresses are kept by rich men. But a mistress who is a woman of substance and independent means is better. (Translation: Don’t ask him for money)
10. Be discreet. (Make sure he is not the type to talk in the sleep.)
11. Never travel together. (Accidents will always happen. You can never tell.)
12. When he breaks a date, charge it to fate, not his fickleness. (Men will be boys. They will forget to call. They will break a date at the last minute. They will stand you up. They
won’t explain and they won’t ask for forgiveness. But don’t cry nor throw a tantrum.

Team Ms. Piggy vs. Team Denise. Saan kayo? ;)) #TeamMsPiggy4ever

What struck me the most in the movie was the dialogue between Pilar Pilapil & Claudine Barreto on keeping a husband happy. That no matter what the wife does, no matter the efforts she puts in the marriage, if the man is hell bent on looking for another woman to warm his bed, then nothing she says or does can make him remain faithful. Yung mga ganyang lalaki ang nakakatakot. Walang kakunte-kuntento. Walang kaligayahan.

Yun lang naman. ;P

Anyway, before I end, I want to wish our dear Ate a happy 21st birthday today. You are now a legal adult my love! As you walk through life, mag-ingat sa mga manloloko at two-timer pls!

Belated Happy Birthday again po kay Jana! Time flies so fast… Maya lang po may Dra ka na, Ms. Jane. 🙂

Anyway, I still haven’t watched that movie pero I have wanted to ever since kaya lang sobra busy sa little man ko tapos sa pagpapagamot pa ng mudra at fudra. Need to cancel muna kasi nakakahiya naman mag Me Time tapos naka admit pa sa hospital ang lolo.

Inform kita, Ms. Jane when ako matutuloy so we could meet up. My sister sent some more things for you yesterday. Hopefully matuwa ka… Naipon na po mga ibibigay ko sa iyo. Hehehe…

Thanks, Ms. Jane. Dumaraan po talaga sa life ang ganito. Yung sa amin nagsunod sunod nga lang. Pero kailangan lang po talaga maging strong.

Much appreciated po ang prayers… Thank you so much po!
