What’s new at Nav Modern Thai Cuisine

Nav Modern Thai Cuisine is not new, but it is new to us. It’s in Pasig, so it was never an option for the suburb-loving GOppets. That was until Richard asked if Kap & I wanted to come along as he had an invite from chef Francis Lim himself who was once at the helm of People’s Palace -an upscale Thai place in Greenbelt.

We actually almost didn’t get to but at the very last minute, the wind changed & we found ourselves at the doorstep of this unassuming Thai restaurant at exactly 12 noon. Armed & ready for a wild thai lunch. And I have to say, boy am I glad we did! The dishes are so simple but each one packed a mean punch.

I asked chef Francis what makes Nav Modern Thai Cuisine different from all the other thai restos, and he pointed out that Nav serves modern Thai cuisine that is better suited to the Filipino taste preference for sweeter dishes. So there’s a more modern take from the traditional recipes. Still the same old dishes mind you, just tweaked a bit.

Please don’t ask me directions because I will not get you there. :P This is why I’m so thankful to have Kap join me as my bff/driver (sweet lover)/photographer.

I was surprised to find the area so small compared to his other resto TIPPLE & SLAW which we also just visited a while back. It can fit maybe around 25-30 people?

Nav Modern Thai Cuisine is a no-fuss resto that serves affordable dishes great for sharing. And now chef Francis has an all-new menu for you to enjoy.

Still with the old, but also in with the new. There aren’t a lot of choices on the menu, but what matters the most is there. There are 2 sides & you’ll find most of your fave thai dishes on the back-to-back list. (Dami kong assistant taga-hawak diba? ;P Thank you Richard & Irene for holding it up haha, and of course for inviting us along! :-* )

Summer time means plenty of coolers. Enjoyed the refreshing Iced Pandan 85 php, Iced Thai Milk Tea 115 php, and Iced Citrus Drink. 100 php. The Thai milk tea was perfect for me as it wasn’t sweet at all. While Kap indulged on his sweet pandan drink.

New: Pad Thai Spring Rolls 200 php.

Tom Kha Gai 250 php. Fresh Coconut Cream Soup. Tangy & tasty.

New: Khao Soi with Crispy Chicken Wings 350 php. A combination of sweet, sour & salty, a must try! <3 We all loved this.

New: Rib eye green curry 450 php.

New: Thai Crispy Pata 650 php. Oh yes, your favorite Filipino dish has just been Thai’d! ;)

Crab Fried Rice 280 php. Good on its own. Although it still worked with the ma-sarsa dishes laid out in front of us. Personally, I like plain white rice when I have dishes packed with flavors & seasoning to balance it out though.

Deconstructed Thai Crispy Pata. The meat was oh-so tender.

Not your usual Fried Sticky Rice 150 php. Modernized version of thai mangga at sum an with coconut milk.

Magkahawig kami! ;P With chef Francis Lim. A graduate of Asian Culinary Studies, he was the former chef of People’s Palace in Greenbelt 3 in Makati. A late bloomer in the culinary world, Francis only learned how to cook in his late 20s but just look at his amazing dishes! Definitely a wow moment with every mouthful. Chef Francis is interested in the scientific side of cooking & is forever reinventing his dishes. Best of all, he’s young & single, ladies! ;))

Thank you so much chef Francis Lim for having us & treating us to your Thai delights! I can say that our trip to Pasig was definitely worth it! :-*
