Turning 45!

Top PR honchos Leslie Ann Tan & Margaux Hontiveros of Makati Shangri-La, Manila gave me the best birthday present as I turned 45. Dinner for 5 at Circles! <3 I was so happy I almost burst! <3

Circles Cafe has a very special place in our hearts. It brings back so many fond memories of delightful occasions. Among all the hotels that serve buffets, Circles is hands down our top favorite. Everything they serve is just so fresh, and with an amazing number of food choices too. There is simply everything for everyone.

The day before my actual birthday, we made sure not to eat snacks of any kind so as to not spoil our appetite for the gastronomic feast that lay ahead. All day long I was dreaming of Circles’ mouthwatering dishes. And they were too..

My kids couldn’t wait to get out of school fast enough for our dinner buffet last Thursday. ;P

It was a night of smiles & pleasantries for everyone around.
I love how people in Makati Shangri-La, Manila are so courteous, helpful, and accommodating in every possible way. <3

I’m on a SEE-FOOD diet. When I see food, I eat it. Lels! ;))
#whatiscorny

What I love most about Circles is their seafood section. Guaranteed freshness in every sea creature laid before your eyes, begging to be tasted. No scrimping here.

My very happy birthday plate. <3 And this is just for starters!
I would gladly convert to being a Pescetarian if I could have a steady supply of seafood as fresh & as luscious as these.

Assorted seafood in vinaigrette.

I was in love with their spicy tuna sashimi. The combination of fresh & spicy really got to me & went straight to my heart! <3

By special request (and a great big smile, of course), you can ask the Chef to wrap up a maki or two for you. 😉

Now you know I don’t do mains. I just go straight to the steak section & stuff my face silly.
But when I caught a glimpse of my babyson’s plate, I just KNEW I had to skip the roast beef this time around to sample these extraordinary mains!

Braised Beef Blade with Cinnamon Sauce, Mashed Ube, and Savoy Cabbage.

Chicken Mushroom Roll with Potato Gratin & Spinach.

Chermola Prawns with Vegetable Couscous & Onion Confit. I swear I went to prawn heaven!

Just lookit! I felt like crying from happiness as I bit into this crunchy prawn! <3

Grilled Salmon with Asparagus, Potato, and Hollandaise Sauce.

Best Pizza Margherita I’ve tasted. No kidding! Fresh from the pugon.

My happy birthday plate #2!

Who could resist that smile though? AND THAT BIG FAT JUICY STEAK calling out my name! @_@

So say hello to my plate #3! 😛

And even though I had a full plate, loverboy still made me taste what was on his.
Sweetness overload caught on cam by our amused, boyfriend-less child (thank you Ate)! <3

I was really too full by this time so I just picked here & there from my Hunny bun’s chinese plate who was only too willing & oh so generous to share his food with his very matakaw wife. 😛

Ate’s noodle soup. Thank you for letting me have a taste. :-*

Bottomless drinks available at a very minimal cost. Iced Tea & Chilled Fruit Juices at 100 php.
Unlimited Wine Buffet at 795 php (from 6PM-11PM only).
A choice of Red wines from Chile, Australia, and California.
White wines from Spain, Australia, South Africa, and California.

Lovely dessert section that beckoned to me! TEASE! @_@

This is one dessert YOU MUST NOT PASS no matter how full you get.
I promise you.

So good that even Ate indulged a bit. One whole white chocolate ball & a teeny tiny sliver of chocolate cake.

You crack it up to this YUMMY GOODNESS! I wanted to get more but I was already getting dizzy with the sweetness overload so I willed myself to stop.
I do want to live another year & have another go at this sumptuous buffet! ;P

My happy birthday plate #4.

My very happy kids..

And my very happy Kap. 🙂
Pure happiness radiating all around.
Thank you so much again Makati Shangri La, Manila for such a wonderful birthday treat! <3

Service was exemplary & impeccable! I had a very delightful night & birthday dinner.
Thank you Dennis & Alona for catering to our every need. 🙂

And of course, no birthday is complete without the blowing of the birthday cake.
Because we share everything, we also share the blowing of my candle & the wish that comes with it. 🙂
What more could I wish for when I have everyone I love beside me? I am beyond fulfilled!

And again.. what birthday is complete without the kakulitan of my kids who never fail to amuse me & annoy me at the same time! 😛

Happy birthday to me! YES, I AM THE(IR) STAR! 😉

Thank you one & all for all the birthday wishes you sent my way. I love you all, and I hope you will still be with me as I celebrate another year.. and another.. and another! :-*

THANK YOU, MAKATI SHANGRILA, MANILA!!! <3

Oh YES! Shangri-La people always go the extra mile to make their guests feel important. They are child-friendly, too! Mapa-Cebu, Boracay, Makati and Edsa – standard ang royalty treatment ng staff! If you’re gonna book a room with them and you’re a local, just say LOCAL RESIDENT RATE PLEASE and viola – big discount await you. Yesterday lang I called them – standard room rate is P12,000 nett but for local residents P9,000 nett.

I hate to compare but a few years ago, my friends + their kids (around 20 kami) tried the buffet at MIDAS hotel. I was with my big camera, taking pictures here & there, when THE MANAGER OF MIDAS HOTEL told me that we need to leave (we were hanging out at the lobby). As in literally told us that we had to go! Kulang na lang tawagin nya ang security to escort us out. We were just making small chitchat (& picture-picture), huh! Kasi daw my camera is professional-looking and wala akong permit to take photos, etc. etc. etc. Guests naman kami, kumain at nagbayad. It was horrible – horrible – horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahuhuhuhuhuhuhu!!!

Sorry, I just had to share my experience, to let the people know that you can never go wrong with Shangri-La. Yes, their rates might be a little higher (just a little bit higher compared to other hotels) but SULIT as in SULIT. Never silang nagkukuripot, nagtitipid & they really go the extra mile to make you smile.

my favorite kind of diet!!!!! See food diet!!!!!!!! yumyum yum ^_^ ….. I just have to react to Ms. Med’s comment…. pero for me hotels aren’t suppose to do that… Rather than helping them with free advertisement. They shoo away the business grabe!!!M .. eh guests are guests… plus the fact that the mentality of having bigger camera means professional na kagad… Dios ko.. … As for shang I can’t wait for their new property to open in the fort.. fom what I understand its under construction ^_^ I love shang’s cebu and boracay … super duper relax…. and as for makati… i love their guest services… ^_^ and the way they help in preparing for functions ^_^

thank you trisha! :-* And sorry, I don’t have any books to recommend. My contact has retired huhu. I don’t wanna buy from amazon it’s over $10 each & I can finish a book a day. I heard the Rosie project is nice though. I’m gonna try & see if it’s downloadable as a freeware somewhere. :-*
