The Hunger Games

A while back, I saw my babyson fascinated with a book, which isn’t often. So I got curious as to what he was reading, & got hooked myself! ;P

I couldn’t put it down, and even went on to the 2nd & 3rd installment of the trilogy. I even read The Hunger Games a SECOND time. That’s how fascinating the book was haha, next to my love for Twilight –yes, I’m a “young adult” at heart! ;))

I normally read romantic/romcom novels & steer clear of action/suspense.
So I was also surprised to find myself entranced with this book.

The Hunger Games is a young adult novel written by Suzanne Collins. It is written in the voice of sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem where the countries of North America once existed. The Capitol, a highly advanced metropolis, holds absolute power over the rest of the nation. The Hunger Games is an annual event in which one boy and one girl aged 12 to 18 from each of the 12 districts surrounding the Capitol are selected by lottery to compete in a televised battle in which only one person can survive.

It’s the first novel in the trilogy, followed by Catching Fire, published on September 1, 2009, and Mockingjay, published on August 24, 2010.

I was surprised to find almost all seats BOOKED at 11AM on a friday morning for the matinee showing. I thought sure, at night time, yeah that’s to be expected. But never in the afternoon. I didn’t count on the fact that it was woodrose & zobels’s last day of school, shucks. So we sat amongst herds of excited, starry-eyed giggling girls & pa-macho boys who “awwwwed” & hooted throughout the movie. It was kinda funny actually, their audience participation. ;))
Went to chinatown after, to get my Lavinia’s most-awaited graduation package! She’s had this thing with Marc Jacobs ever since he came out with the Miss Marc line.

My super happy Lavinia with her new watch! <3
The minute & second hand is actually a mouse with it’s tail rotating.
So cute! :)
