Bauan Plaza Hotel & Sombrero Island

This long summer that the kids were after a diving certification, napadalas ang pa-Batangas namin. There’s only so much you can do in the water, so immersing yourself in the city is also nice to get a feel of the batangueno spirit & history.

Sombrero Island has a short stretch of white sand beach with crystal clear waters where you can swim from the shore & already see the marine life. At the back of the island there are coral reefs that you can discover while snorkelling. Sombrero Island also plays host to sea turtles who lay their eggs. So make sure you stay away from the caged portion here baby turtles will surely hatch. There is a makeshift toilet facility on the island to blend in with nature, so make sure you “do your business” beforehand.

Going roundabout the city proper to buy some meds & other essentials on the way to our diving resort, we noticed this big hotel. In most provinces, it’s rare to see a full-scale hotel so the GOppets stopped & looked around. What a great place to stay on our next trip to Batangas! What a beaut! What a find! <3

#LamNa that I’m really a city girl haha. And now, the GOppets can have it both ways. City+Nature just a few minutes apart. Errbody happy (especially me)! ;)

The distinguished-looking Bauan Plaza Hotel. Definitely our next dive stopover!

Bauan Plaza Hotel

J.P. Rizal Street cor Kap. Ponso Street, Bauan (043) 702 8414; +6343-702 8414 or +63925-722-7004 to 06

The GOppets were impressed with Bauan Plaza Hotel. Who knew there was a deluxe hotel accommodation in the heart of Batangas city proper? And you know I’m all for DELUXE. ;) So this hotel suits me to a T & I’ll make sure that on the next dive, Kap books us here!

Strategically situated in the town’s business and industry district, the Bauan Plaza Hotel lets you experience a retreat of local hospitality. Best of all, it’s only around 30 minutes away from the beach!

Bauan Plaza Hotel is right across Immaculate Conception Parish. What a lovely place to get married in & have your wedding reception just across! ;) #WalkingDistance #NoParkingNeeded

The theme & motif of the hotel is right in line with the age-old city of Batangas.

But everything else is modern & updated once you step inside. An escalator & centralized airconditioning. These just saved the day coming in from the glaring sun & outdoor heat woohoo! ;) I’m BFFs with Bauan Plaza Hotel already.

There’s even a full-serviced elevator so you don’t have to lug your things up the stairway!

The rooms are equipped with Flat Screen TVs, refrigerator, complimentary Wi-Fi (yaaas!), bath tubs (yaaas!) and living areas. Guests can choose from 6 room categories. A ballroom, 3 function rooms and meeting spaces are available for family celebrations, corporate meetings, & other social events.

The Bauan Plaza Hotel also has an in-house Coffee Shop and Bar, room services (another yaaas moment!), daily housekeeping, laundry services, & airport transfer. And best of all, BUFFET IS AVAILABLE ON WEEKENDS for only 550 php per person! \m/

Every weekend (Saturdays & Sundays), Bauan Plaza Hotel presents the Lobby Weekend Buffet. Multi-course Filipino, Asian, and International cuisine from 10am to 2pm, and 5pm to 8pm for Php 550. Call +6343-702 8414 or +63925-722-7004 to 06 for seat reservations.

The Saturday that we visited, they had (clockwise) kare-kare, pork hamonado, sweet & sour tofu, lechon kawali, and buffalo wings for their hot dishes.

And who says no to halo-halo? NOT ME! \m/

Afraid of getting tired with hotel food on extended stay? Bauan Plaza Hotel is also home to: Dencio’s, Monkok, and Bo’s Coffee! \m/ Also, you can go around the city & have some Batangas Bulalo!

Bauan Plaza Hotel also has a gym (for you-know-who-goes-crazy-without-her-daily-exercise), and a game room for fun nights with the barkada! The shala-but-makunat alabang Super Friends will fit right in! <3 (Gotta tell them about Bauan Plaza Hotel for our next diving adventure)

During our “inspection”, I was so happy to see a couple just married! <3 As you know, I’m a sucker for romance. And I found out from the friendly staff that a lot of happy couples have their reception here. Bauan Plaza Hotel has a grand ballroom!

A basic wedding package includes: Sumptuous Menu 450/head minimum of 50 pax. 400 php in excess of 50 pax that includes Soup (Cream of mushroom/Chicken with corn), Entrees (Aglio Olio with Spicy tuna/Shanghai Guisado, Sweet and sour fish fillet/Beef stroganoff/Pork Asado, Chicken BBQ/Fried chicken/Cordon Bleu, and steamed rice), Dessert (Coffee jelly/Buko pandan), and One round of drinks (Iced tea/Orange juice/Pineapple juice). | 4-hour use of air-conditioned function hall | Use of basic sound system | Use of LCD projector & white screen | Use of stage & podium | Complimentary Wifi access

This events & meeting facility is convertible to 1 ballroom, or divided onto PAKAKAK HALL (Bauan Hall A & Bauan Hall B) and RIZAL HALL (Barako Hall A & Barako Hall B) with Sta. Cruz Hall (meeting spaces).

Here are some snippets of the GOppets fun diving activities at Sombrero Island Batangas..

Speaking of diving (and snorkeling), Bauan Plaza Hotel is tied up (literally) with Sombrero Island! Packaged Day Tours are available (for 2 pax – 5,000 | for 4 pax – 5,600 | for 6 pax – 6,100). The basic package includes land transfers from & to the hotel, snorkeling in selected sites & use of equipments, and a stop-over at the island for some leisure time. Guests can use the island’s existing huts & bring their own food & drinks for a picnic under the sun at no extra corkage fee.

You can opt to go snorkelling or scuba diving to enjoy what the sea has to offer. (And I don’t mean just eating the seafood, lels!)

60 ft. below! Beautiful marine life.

A typical Sombrero Island itinerary by Bauan Plaza Hotel:

9 am – Leave Bauan Plaza Hotel for Anilao (30 minutes chattel ride plus another 30 minute boat ride to the island)

10 am to  11:30 am – Snorkel at various sites. Snacks are sever on the boat.

12 n to 2 pm – Lunch is served as part of the full-leisure package (only available with the 3 days/2 nights accommodation. Otherwise, bring your own picnic). Leisure time.

2 pm to 3pm – Leave Sombrero Island & return to Bauan Plaza Hotel.

Tara, kitakits on our next diving trip! PS: The kids are now PADI-certified, yay! Up on the blog soon! \m/

Hopefully on your next visit and stay in Batangas makapag meet na po tayo… My humble abode is just a 5 minute walk from Bauan Plaza Hotel. Hehehe… That church is where my husband and I got married kahit taga Paranaque sya. Sayang nga po at wala pa Bauan Plaza Hotel that time. Kung meron na dun sana kami nag reception.

Anyway po, CONGRATS po at PADI-certified na si Ate at si Baby Son nyo…!
