Ate & I love to bond over good coffee out & about, or at home. It’s the time we can make kwento over a steaming mug. She tells me what’s happening in her life, I tell her what’s happening in mine. <3 These are simple moments I look forward to with my firstborn.

IMG_0356

It’s during these coffee moments with her that I give her my loving advice on life in general.. falling in love, and men! ;) Such as: You don’t fall in love because you’re lonely (which she definitely isn’t -with me around). You fall in love because you’re READY. And you have found THE ONE. <3

We are both bookworms. So when she comes home early & she doesn’t have to study for an exam, we browse for books & buy those that catches our fancy. Like this hilarious title by Alex Gonzaga. And take it to the nearest Starbucks coffee shop to read in companionable silence as we sip our drinks & exchange commentaries in between. ;))

Starbucks coffee buyers have developed deep relationships throughout the coffee growing world and travel the globe in search of some of the finest and rarest coffees. In their travels, our buyers occasionally discover exceptional coffees available in limited quantities. The Starbucks Reserve Coffee grants customers the opportunity to discover the unique flavors of these exotic locations..

Colombia El Penol

STARBUCKS RESERVE COLOMBIA EL PEÑOL.  Cultivated and processed by 160 smallholder farmers near La Piedra del Peñol, a 2,135-meter rock revered by locals, the beans are combined and dried at a central mill. Each farmer understands the importance of his contribution. Consistently high-quality beans help ensure excellence in the cup.

Unknown

STARBUCKS RESERVE ETHIOPIA KONGA. Ethiopia has long been celebrated for its washed coffees. Yet in the Wote Konga area, a cooperative of coffee farmers is using a natural-drying process—laying whole cherries in the sun to coax out their natural berry flavors. The farmers go one step further by covering the fruit to slow the drying process. The result is an extraordinary cup with greater complexity and a lush, lingering sweetness.

Hawaii Ka'u

STARBUCKS RESERVE HAWAII KA’U. The delicate tropical flavors captivated our buyers beyond expectation, leaving no doubt that we had to share this rare sip. Handpicked and processed in small batches by family farmers devoted to Hawaiian tradition, this coffee is the latest wonder from paradise.

Nicaragua Cabo Azul

STARBUCKS RESERVE NICARAGUA CABO AZUL.  The mountainous Matagalpa region in central Nicaragua – with its moderate climate and abundant rainfall – is known for high-quality coffee. It’s here the century-old Cabo Azul Estate produces these vibrant, richly flavored beans.

Panama Carmen Estate

STARBUCKS RESERVE PANAMA CARMEN ESTATE. The coffee is nurtured and milled in the Volcan Valley. This mountainous micro-region, on the narrow isthmus between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, offers rich, loamy volcanic soil. Cool, frost- free nights give way to dry, sun-drenched days, creating ideal conditions for growing the quintessential Panamanian coffee: a bright lemony acidity in the cup with a nutty sweetness.

Panama Los Cantares

STARBUCKS RESERVE PANAMA LOS CANTARES.  Abundant water from the adjoining Chiriquí Viejo River, rich soil and plentiful shade trees contribute to a memorable coffee with delicate body and bright acidity. The estate has won multiple Best of Panama awards, and one taste of this coffee proves why.

Starbucks Reserve Coffee showcases its passion, expertise and experience in coffee. Befitting this coffee are of course, the world’s finest preparation methods so what better time to introduce the Clover brewing system.

Clover Brewing System

A coffee brewing system that uses innovative Vacuum-Press technology to create your cup right in front of you. Watch as a stainless steel filter lowers into the brew chamber, hot water is added at a precise temperature to brew your coffee for an ideal length of time.

The Clover brewing system controls brew time and temperature digitally, as even small changes here can dramatically affect the outcome you taste in the cup. A thermal blanket surrounds the brew chamber to keep water within 1 degree Fahrenheit of the ideal temperature.

After the coffee brews, it is pulled through a 70-micron filter. The resulting grounds are pushed out of the top of the machine. The coffee itself flows into your cup – hot, aromatic and amazingly flavorful. We’re pretty sure it will be the finestcup of coffee you’ve ever tasted.

Of course, Starbucks Reserve’s more traditional French coffee press and pour over also deliver the flavor nuances and unique characteristics of each Starbucks Reserve coffee.

Starbucks Reserve Coffee sent me my very own kit where I can drip my own coffee at home, or take it wherever I go.

I have tried both the ETHIOPIA & the COLOMBIA. (Retails for 700-800 php/8.8 oz bag) I like the velvety soft texture and floral, peppery spice notes flavor of the Ethiopia while Ate likes the floral undertones of Colombia. I can’t wait to finish our stash so we can try the other 3! <3 Thank you Starbucks PH for my sample loot!

Since it opened its first store at 6750, Ayala Avenue, Makati City, in 1997, Starbucks has been building an authentic and global coffee culture through it passion for promoting coffee culture and expertise, its care for the community and ability to consistently deliver a unique Starbucks Experience to customers across the Philippines.

Sobrang SHALA (my new favorite word, thanks to you, Jane! hahaha…). People are aghast that I actually drink Great Taste Coffee in the morning, even though there’s a perfectly acceptable percolator and french press available here at home. Napaka-barbaric ko talaga, hahaha…

Pero I’ve always wanted to visit one of the Starbucks Reserve branches to try one of their brews. I might also buy some of those interesting beans so I can at least use the machines here at home. =)

Please do, Niel. Once you go starbucks, you will never go back (to Great Taste) hahaha. Gamitin na yang percolator at french press, sayang! :-* Pagkakamali ko lang as a first time user, hindi ko pinagiling ang magic beans hahaha. Mapagpanggap lang akong shala but deep down inside, 3-in-1 levels lang pala ako! :P

Pang-ALTA! Pati location ng SB Reserve nasa-ALTA!!!
    I want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn’t know Jena collects SB bears! I was able to buy for my cousin the sheep goat (super die hard collector ng SB items) when I was in Korea last January. The following day ubos agad!!! I was planning to buy more bears because cousin told me it’s gonna sell for 15k each in the next few years. Oh yes, nag-aapreciate ang halaga. Oh yes, balak ko pagtubuan, so jej ba? LOL

I hope SB will soon release a similar drip-coffee-on-the-go like Muji’s. Very convenient to bring everywhere coz it’s disposable. Unfortunately, ako lang yata ang bumibili so Muji discontinued to sell here in the Philippines. OH, and sana they will sell KEURIG STARBUCKS K-cups soon! Attention Starbucks Philippines!!!!!!!

I love coffee but I cannot tell what makes the beans good, or differentiate where my beans come from. It’s like wine, I can never tell why I like the wine, I simply do :)
