My Paleo Manila Diet: Week 6

Have you guys read SPOT.PH’s Guide to Diet Delivery Programs in Metro Manila? If you haven’t done so, you might want to read it when you get the time. It seems that everyone now is on the bandwagon to good health & fitness. Which is great. Because health is wealth. I didn’t know how true that was until I found myself on the other end. Name a chronic illness, I have it. So early prevention is really the best way to go if you can help it.

I have noticed that most of the diet food deliveries are calorie-counting based. Although it may work for some, I have found that calorie-counting is really not for me. I feel deprived.. and starved when I am boxed in. I’m a rebel by nature. So if you tell me this is the only portion I can eat, my brain goes on an overdrive & it makes me think the more I am hungry. Then I become HANGRY (hungry na, angry pa!)!

Which is why in all of my 45 years of existence, PALEO MANILA is the only diet that works for me. Because it’s not calorie counting. It’s eating healthy. Meaning as long as it’s healthy, and done in moderation (not eating the whole cow!), I am okay.

Case in point, I am past my 6th week & I’m still standing strong & proud. Isabelle Chiang of Paleo Manila (my foodaholics anonymous sponsor, lels) commented that she noticed I am slowly changing from within. And I realized that’s what’s changed. I am transforming from inside out, and I know that it will also be the main reason why I can stick to this thing called healthy eating for the long run.

So many dieters, myself included, lose weight but then gain it all back after some time. That’s because the change is only in the outer appearance. Deep down, the habits, the feelings, the desire to taste-those haven’t changed. Permanent weight loss needs a total lifestyle change. It means not touching that cupcake once you’ve hit your target weight because it’s so easy to be sucked back in.

But when you change from WITHIN, your thinking, your perspective gives you a whole new outlook.Β  Even if a particular food that is bad for your health is placed in front of you, the longing & the need to be satisfied isn’t there anymore. You may find it pretentious, but now, when I see chips & junk food, I really don’t reach out, grab, & stuff my face like I used to. We recently bought an air-fryer & my cook makes me these for snacks when I get the sudden munchies..



It may not look pretty, but believe me, I prefer this now over any store bought chips. Try it first to believe it. This is an assortment of sweet potato, apple, banana & taro. Crunchy & yummy I promise you! I even bring it with me when we watch movies, great snackage, I tell ya! <3

Day 1


Granny’s Morning Meatloaf Muffins (Yum!), Ted Ginger Pork Curry with Cucumber Mint Salad (Yum!), Herbed & Roasted Calamari Salad with preserved Lemons (Omg YUM!) & Naked Chicken Sliders (not in photo. Ok), and Cajun-style Grilled Tuna Steak with Herbed Squash (Omg YUM!).

Day 2



I unintentionally deleted my Tuesday meals from my phone huhu. But I was able to upload on Instagram my favorite meal for Tuesday. it’s Glazed & Grazed Beef Tapa with Garlic CauliRice. TWO THUMBS UP!!! <3


Day 3


Cantonese Savory Egg Custard (Ong YUM!), Tuscan Pork Chops with Mixed Greens (Yum!), Dragonfruit, Kiwi & Papaya Poppers (ok) & Mumbai Taro with Seas Salt (ok), and 24-hours marinated Dijon Beef brisket with Seasoned Cabbage Steak (Omg YUM!)


Day 4


Overnight Raw Cacao Chia Pudding (Omg YUM! I NEED to get this recipe! Chocolate craving buster I swear!), Bangers & Mash from The Butchery, Mint & Tarragon Sausage with Onion Gravy & Sweet Potato Mash. (Omg Yum!), Deviled Eggs Pintxos in Homemade Aioli (good) & Moist Cranberry Banana Muffin (Omg Yum!), and Honey Lime Sesame Chicken Drumsticks (Yum!)


Day 5


Gluten-free Osaka style Okonomiyaki (ok), Lebanese Kofta Beef Balls with Eggplant Pomodoro (good), Herbed buttermilk biscuits (ok) & Caramelized Cinnamon Plantains (not in photo – good), and Classic Curried Chicken Divan & Broccoli Casserole (good).
