I know you’re probably sick of my food posts so I will incorporate a bit of fashion in my blog today haha. Although I’m far from being a fashion blogger -or a fashionista for that matter, I have 2 stylists who make it a point that their mommah looks her best when stepping out of the house! :P
Kap is not fond of shopping. But more than that, he’s not fond of ME shopping! I can really go wild even with limited choices available for my plus size:P I’m glad most of my clothes are made of stretchy, gartered materials so even as I’m losing weight, I am still able to wear my clothes until such a time that I really feel the need to do a major shopping haul. (Humanda ka Kap!)
For those of you planning on losing weight, I strongly suggest that instead of buying clothes a size or 2 smaller whenever you lose a few pounds, invest instead in clothes made of spandex for the bottom, or jeggings which is in fashion now (thank goodness!), and loose, flowy tops like caftans or kimonos. This way, you don’t have to keep buying new stuff which you will eventually give away after a few weeks because they will be too loose already.
These are pants which are not only comfy, but will also be your bestest friends as you slowly lose weight. Make sure that you buy your exact size, or a size smaller, as these are stretchable anyway. There is nothing uglier than a loose leggings or jeggings as they are meant to be worn fit.
If you will notice, most of my clothes are exactly what I just mentioned because I was forever gaining weight so having stretchy pants gave the me allowance I needed without having to buy bigger clothes every time I got heftier. You can go crazy with a make-over once you have reached your desired weight goal which actually gives you more incentive to lose. #eyeontheprize
For tops, flowy blouses are always forgiving. 1) They hide everything that needs to be hidden. 2) When you start losing weight, the reveal at the end will give your friends a pleasant surprise! ;) Flowy tops also compliment fitted bottoms the best.
And don’t forget to accessorize. The bigger & chunkier, the better. You wanna FEEL fab, and these blings will surely make you feel like a million dollars. Also, (the right) accessories automatically makes an outfit better. Just make sure you don’t come out like a christmas tree, stick to 1-2 colors. And if you’re already wearing big earrings, skip the necklace & go for the kill will chunky bangles.
It’s so convenient that what got me through when I was gaining continuously, is also what’s getting me through now as I’m slowly but surely losing weight, and on the road to health & fitness!
I’m ashamed to admit that most of my shorts are bought from the preggy stores. So now you know my ugly secret! :P Not only were those the only kind I could fit into, but like I said, they gave me the necessary allowance with my ever -growing tummy.
Stretchy pencil skirts also go nicely with flowy tops. :) Basta big on top, make sure it’s small at the bottom so you don’t look like the Michelin Man -or worse, the Goodyear Blimp!
But I’m so past that now. Come February, I am burning every single fat clothes that I have because I never want to go back to that lifestyle. I have committed to my new way of living & nothing and no one can keep me away from my goal. Even if it takes me a hundred years!

Clockwise from left: Japanese omu-caulirice with wild salmon (good), Mango-balsamic chicken breast fillet with cranberry walnut spinach salad (yum!), Honey-glazed plantains dipped with 100% malagos pure dark chocolate (yum!) & Coconut-cinnamon raisin donut holes (okay), and Tender jamaican jerk ribs with homemade spiced yuca fries (okay).
