US Frozen Potatoes: Carne Asada Fries

My kids love potato fries. In fact when they have friends over (which is quite often), they ask our Cook to prepare potato fries as a snack. Quick & easy, filling too. Lori, our cook, has put her skills to the test trying to come up with a million & one varieties so the kids have something new & exciting to munch on come snack time.

Read Ate’s recent NAUGH-Tea party HERE where potato fries were served as part of her afternoon tea. Her one of many. I love it when the kids have their friends over because it means our domicile truly is considered home sweet home by everyone who visits. So I make sure I keep them well fed as feeding & nurturing are my languages of love.

You can always see several packs of US Frozen Potatoes occupying almost half of our grocery cart in our weekly hauls. That’s how much the kids & their friends love ’em potatoes!

Because I usually feed a lot of hungry kids, I buy my US Frozen Potatoes in bulk. One big bag of US Frozen Potatoes cost 221 php (2.04 grams net weight).

To mix it up a bit, I try to buy US Frozen Potatoes in fun cuts. It really depends on what type of potato dish the kids request for their guests. When it’s just flavored fries that we sprinkle with either barbecue or cheese powder, then we go for the straight-cut. My personal favorite though is the curly fries. Hot, crispy, curly fries reaches the pit of my soul like no other fries can! Potatoes are my ultimate comfort food. <3

Sometimes my kids like their potatoes plain & simple. Other times, they like it flavored. But most of the time, because they want to impress their friends, they ask their ate Lori to make her famous Carne Asada Potato Fries ala Lori. ;)

We were able to try a great potato dish at Brasas, and it left an indelible mark in the kids’ heart. They hurriedly bought some for take-home & asked our Cook to try & recreate it.

Brasas is the home of Latin American street food and one of the dishes the kids loved is the Carne Asada Fries.

It was dressed & topped with all their favorite nacho ingredients. So naturally it was an instant hit! Great for parties or a stand alone snack.

They love their Carne Asada Fries as mid-morning or afternoon snack as much as they love dipping in our pool these hot summer days. They’re under the sun so much that you can actually call them baked potatoes as they are tanned golden brown! :P

I was surprised you got your hands on the kitchen and carry a deadly tool. Marunong ka din pala, Mommy Jane, to hold a knife. Hehehe!

Unlike you, kitchen is my favorite part of the house except when it’s summer like this. I’ll die with the heat. Kaya next project is to have an airconditioned kitchen. :)
