Let’s ROCK with Made in Candy!

My kids & I LOVE Made in Candy. Not like. LOVE. <3 Ever since it started operations here in the Philippines almost 3 years ago, we would really make it a point to go to Rockwell just so we can watch how they make the candies. We never tire of it kahit paulit-ulit. Coz there’s always something new.

And we would always buy -even though I’d vow not to because you know, sugar & all. But how can you resist? First of all, the candies are SO CUTE! Secondly, the flavors are so interesting & diverse. Plus, you actually don’t feel guilty eating as the candies are cut so small. Less than bite size even. Parang konti lang. It’s always too late when you find out you’ve eaten more than half the contents of the bottle and you’re jumping up & down from the sugar rush! :P

My top 3 favorites are: Grapefruit, Watermelon, and Strawberry. But I also like the rest of the flavors: Apple, Blueberry, Cherry, Cranberry, Grape, Green Tea, Kiwi, Lemon, Lime, Lychee, Mango, Orange, Passion Fruit, Peach, Peppermint, Pineapple, Raspberry, & Soursop. Made in Candy comes in the following designs:

The truth is, I really keep a small bottle of Made in Candy in my bag & I make sure to stock up especially when I go out with the kids and bigla they’re hungry before we reach our destination. Nalo-low sugar sila & they get cranky, so I give them some. I swear those candies come in handy!

Asia’s first independent candy-kitchen, Made in Candy‘s candymen (artisans) sculpt contemporary hand-made candies using traditional methods that carry pictures and messages that would delight any sweet tooth.

See them twirl, whirl, pull and mold hot, gooey candy into beautiful bite sized marvels you would never imagine candy could contain.

Made In Candy uses the best quality sugar and specially imported raw materials to ensure our products maintain its strict quality.

My Lovey was so excited for our made in Candy activity. <3 Can you tell she is a fan? ;)

I actually prefer buying the candies in foil form because it’s not as heavy as the glass packaging. Yun lang, it’s a stickier situation in the foil packaging. Small foil bag (30g) 50.00 | Medium foil bag (70g) 100.00

Small Jar (35g) 90.00 | Medium Jar (70g) | 150.00 Large Jar (135g) | 260.00 Foil Bag (70g) 100.00

And many thanks of course to RICHARD CO for taking us along & sharing this wonderful experience with us. <3 Irene & Lauren partnered up while my Lovey & I paired up. Our camera men were the boys. What fun we had!

They had me at colored bottles!

When our excitement waned down a bit, the nice Candymen got us started by mixing sugar and water to form the candy base. Stirring for around 20 minutes until the sugar dissolved & the mixture reached a full boil. I wasn’t paying too much attention as I kept squealing in delight, looking around everywhere, and touching everything. So forgive me for not knowing the exact temperature needed, teehee.

But worry not because I’m ma-abilidad! :P Here’s a chart that I found online (credits) for you candy maker wannabes. Plus a complete & illustrated guide on HOW TO MAKE ROCK CANDIES. But if you’re like me, all thumbs, then just go and buy from Made in Candy, for goodness sake! :P

There are 3 surfaces. The HOT, GRANITE, and STAINLESS. The HOT table is where the mixture is poured to make the candy & mix in with artificial food coloring. The GRANITE is where the candy is formed layer by layer & designed accordingly. And the STAINLESS is where the tubed candies are rolled to a rounder shape, cooled off and cut into smaller pieces.

Because Le Miz Piggy is in the house, everyone indulged me & agreed to a piggy candy design. Needless to say, I was over the moon with happiness! <3

You know it. Pink is the color of Le Miz Piggy! ;)

You’d be surprised with how much muscle is required to werq it. Candy making is NOT for the weak! ;))

Layer by layer, we saw how Miz Piggy was formed. First was the nose, then the eyes, then the ears. And pretty soon, my Lovey was holding up the 4-kilo fab resemblance of an omnivorous domesticated hoofed mammal! *Oink

My Lovey was excited because every time we would visit a Made in Candy theatre, we only get to see how things work from the outside. And here she is, right in the heart of things. How cool is that???

A 4-kilo candy can make around 114 pcs. of small jars, 57 pcs. of medium jars, or 29 pcs. of the large jars. 57 pc. of small foil bags, or 133 pcs. of the big foil bags.

My Lovey tries slicing the tube candy into tiny, bite-size pieces. I think she’s qualified for a summer job, don’t you agree? ;)

TADA. Here piggy-piggy. Come to momma.. erm, momma’s mouth! <3

The bigger rim was used to make lollipops. I was so happy seeing my Lovey enjoy our mother-daughter bonding activity. <3

Packaging the candies is not as easy as 1-2-3. First, they make sure every single one is almost the same size. Then they sift the candies to take out the crumbs. Then they bottle it, weigh it, and adjust accordingly. It is a tedious process, I tell ya.

It was one experience my Lovey & I will treasure. All thanks to DJ GUINTO, beautiful marketing manager of Made in Candy, and RICHARD who always takes us along his fun & yummy adventures. <3

Ang ganda-ganda talaga ni Jena! Labas na labas ang dimples niya. And she’s really shedding her baby fats na. Beautiful!

I’m not really much of a hard candy person, but Made in Candy’s unique designs have gotten me curious. Makabili nga niyan the next time I’m in Glorietta. =)
