Food & Dining My Kids The GOppets

Afternoon Delight at the Lobby Lounge Makati Shangri-La Manila

The doctor gave my Mom the GO signal to travel already, but I fear she won’t last the whole flight through. Parang nagka-ADHD si mommy after her stroke. Hindi na mapalagi sa isang lugar, hay! She has to keep moving & wandering. Aside from the fact that she now takes baby steps getting anywhere & everywhere, she goes to the bathroom like every 30 minutes or so in spite of her pull-ups. She also refuses to sit in her wheelchair. So no, mahirap siyang i-byahe. Mababaliw ako!

The next best thing is to give her the good life, apart from seeing the world. Mag-hotel hopping na lang kami, at least dun may banyo, lol. Kahit every so often she has to “go”, her nurse can take her there. Mag-sitting pretty lang ako. 😛

Enjoy a view of the lush hotel gardens and cascading waterfalls from the sanctuary of Lobby Lounge Makati Shangri-La Manila. A grand piano or 14-piece orchestra can often be heard in the afternoons, as guests enjoy a peaceful lunch or an intimate meeting.

I highly recommend that you get the Tea & Treasures A Charmed Life. It’s a pink jewellery box afternoon tea set good for two, at 1,890 php from 3-6 pm daily. Both beautiful & delectable. <3

I super love the concept of an afternoon tea, so girly! Pinkies up ladies. 😉

Each box contains a lovely surprise. It’s like opening an advent calendar -except you get to open ALL in one day. I love it!

When spread out, it’s actually good for 4 if you’re a light eater. It’s just afternoon tea, after all. Not a main meal.

I’m glad mom enjoyed a tranquil afternoon with her pretty granddaughters.

For a variety, or if you’re really hungry (like me, obviously) you can also add to your order any of the following..

Tea-&-Treasures-A-Charmed-Life-lobby-lounge-51

The Classic Afternoon Tea 510 php (right). Selection of finger sandwiches, scones with homemade fruit preserves and clotted cream, tea cakes and pastries. Choice of fine teas and infusions available from 3pm to 6pm daily. | The Filipino Afternoon Tea 510 php (left). Bibingka (sweet rice cake), lumpiang ubod (fresh heart of palm spring rolls), bistek tagalog sandwich, chicken empanada, guinataang halo-halo (glutinous rice balls, purple yam and banana cooked in coconut), suman (sticky rice), banana turon (banana and jackfruit spring roll). To cap it off, a little bit of “stargazing” on your way out. My absolute favorite.. staring at beautiful chandeliers in posh hotels. #GOALS #WishfulThinking

After a quiet afternoon being serenaded to the point of lulling us to sleep in happiness & contentment, it was time to walk around so Mom can have her daily exercise. And yes, fml, damay ako! 😛

Because we are moving homes, it’s so much fun looking at furnitures & decors. It’s becoming our favorite pastime now. Ang mag-window shop, lol.

dimensione-monkey-lamps

Kap was born in the year of the earth monkey so I’m definitely getting one of these lamps for his side table. I’m loving the one on the left, but I’m thinking the middle or the one on the right suits his personality more. What do you think?

dimensione-cabinet

Oh yes. I’m definitely getting these! <3 <3 <3 I already have a place mapped out for the baka-manok-baboy cabinets! 😉 Cuteness overload! Magagalit na naman si Kap my Kap at wala na kaming malakaran trololol!

I live for moments like this. The 2 Luz in my life. <3 My baby girl & my mommy.

Where else can I take mom for afternoon tea do you think? So far we’ve only tried the ones in Manila Peninsula, Raffles Makati (3x!), and now Shangri-La Manila. What other hotels offer Afternoon delights please?

-Karen’s Kitchen, I think, offers afternoon tea… although hindi siya hotel, and I think you have to call in advance. There’s also Lartizan.

Heniways, have a great day, Jane! Mwah!

Sofitel has one and after the tea party, watch naman kayo ng sunset. Manila Bay sunset is one of the best in the world!!!

I am happy to see that your mom is so active again. Pati ikaw napapalakad, which is also good! Hahahaha!!! I know you hate walking. Maybe your mom walks because she knows you’ll walk with her, too! Sneaky mom. LOL

Oh yes, your friend Neil, is correct. Lartizan in Serendra is good, too! You may call in advance to reserve the “private room” no minimum charge. Their Sakura tea is one of the best!!! And after that, walking kayo ni Mommy hanggang sa dulo ng HighStreet. I’m sure your mom will love it.

Been dreaming of a tea time date for the longest. My feeling is that the one who does tea time is a very civilized activity 🙂

Sending your mom continued healing vibes.
