My Kids Others Sponsored Posts : Choosing Right

As you know, my Babyson just graduated from high school. CLICK HERE to read my previous & emotional blog post on that event. ;) 2 down, 1 to go before everyone’s in college woot!

Because college starts in August, he has 4 whole months of bumming this summer vacation. He has taken things pretty easy so far, just hanging with his friends or his siblings & enjoying life. And that’s ok with me. Because I know that once he goes back to school, it will be all work, just like his Ate. Pre-med is no joke, I have seen Ate work her way up & burning the midnight oil almost all the time. And now that my Babyson has chosen the same path, I am pretty much bracing myself for the first 4 years of hard work & long nights ahead for him.

My Babyson plays hard, but he works hard too. So I’m ok with him taking it easy this summer vacation. He’ll be busy with school soon enough.

I wasn’t really surprised that both of them wanted to take up Medicine. Or that they even had a solid plan. Even as young kids they already knew what they wanted in life & were sure of themselves & what they wanted for their future.

Most of my Babyson’s friends were clueless as to what course to take & just went with what their parents wanted for them, or what was the easiest to pass, the fastest course to finish. I’m so blessed that my 2 kids have good heads on their shoulder & chose the road less travelled, even though it will take a while for them to achieve their life goals. Education after all, is the best gift their Dad & I can truly gift them.

Peer pressure is real. They have often been warned & mocked that it’s gonna take some pretty hard work to achieve their dreams, but I’m thankful for concrete foundation & deep rooted background that kept them steadfast, setting their eyes on the prize. They could have easily been swayed with their decision makings & just went where it was easiest instead of fulfilling their interests. But I’m glad that they stuck to their guns despite the work that is ahead of them.

Back in my days, I was one of the kids who didn’t know what to do with their lives. All I wanted was to be a stay-at-home mom & have a family to dote on. But coming from over-accomplished & over-achieving parents, I knew I had to go to college. So I chose the most common course. If only I knew then what I know now, I would definitely have given more consideration to my choice of collegiate course.

Back in the days of hairsprays & hair tease! :P I took the most common course because I didn’t know what I wanted in life other than having a family of my own to love & nurture. Not having a diploma was not an option with my dad.

Information wasn’t as out there before as it is now. Technology has gone a long way and if only I had the tool that so many young people have today, I could have made better & more suitable choices. Information that could have given me insight & objective on what career I wanted to embark on before I delved into being a full-time mom.

Mommy Jane, you are an overachiever with a legacy! Look at how you have raised three wonderful, grounded and balanced individuals, how you have been the wind beneath Kap’s wings and how you have managed a home filled with Christ’s love and christian values.

I too want just to be a full time mom & wife pero i have not been blessed with kids yet kaya corporate slave muna. Hehehe

Ms. Jane, you are really pretty back then… Hanggang ngayon naman po eh. Nagkalaman ka lang and of course as we age nag iiba ng konti ang features natin but still you can see the beauty there…

Time flies so fast po noh? Your son’s gonna enter the university na rin. Dati habol pa sa Mommy palagi at nagpapabuhat. Now, he’s treading na on his own path. Tama po si Ms. Meding. Ipa blow up nyo yung pic na naka back hug kayo kay Baby Son. It is a very precious moment na bihira na lang po siguro maganap kasi binata na eh. Nasa awkward stage na. Hehehe…

Anyway, buti po meron na now… At least, the parents and most especially yung mismong mag-aaral eh magkakaroon ng guide on which school to aim for depending upon the field of study that he/she wants to take up. Dati kasi pag balak mo mag Medicine, USTe agad ang nasa isip, pag Engineering eh Mapua, pag Business Management eh La Salle, and so on and so forth… At least now, you are given a wider range of options… :)
