Menu Dejeuner at Mireio Raffles Makati

Menu Dejeuner, or “lunch menu” for us common folks who are more used to the universally spoken english language -lol, is whats new at Mireio Raffles Makati. The French always manage to make everything sound so fancy, don’t you agree? And expensive. Very expensive.

Well let me point out in advance that the lunch specials are not only incredibly scrumptious, but they are also astonishingly affordable. 3 course at 1,100++ & 2 course at 998++. Surprise, surprise! Kap-approved kumbaga. That’s why for our double date with friends, we decided to try out the new lunch specials at Mireio Raffles Makati.

One, the view from the 9th floor is simply breathtaking. Two, the affordable set menu doesn’t dent the pocket. And three, well, everything we’ve tried so far came out très bon. Perfect trifecta, what’s not to like?

Started out with some pain fraîchement cuit. Have one either soft or crunchy -made daily by Raffles Makati‘s pastry chef. Soft tomato roll for Kap, sourdough & french bread for me. I like ’em chewy & I indulge while I still have all my teeth. ;)

Of course, a little wine while you dine doesn’t hurt one bit. Nuh-uh! ;) Life, after all, is a wonderful, precious gift to be celebrated at every waking moment.

I love, love, LOVE cheese, so I really couldn’t resist this cheese platter for starters (but really meant for dessert, teehee). Cheese selection 800 php.

Allow me to just briefly sneak in a greeting. :) Congratulations are in order for this amazing lady who just went straight up the top of the corporate ladder of a very popular, high-end brand! \m/ Mitch is the daughter-in-law of Kap’s tennis bud kuya Ronnie. If you will remember, I featured him & ate Evelyn a while back. What a lovely family.

Double dating means we can try more stuff! Appetizers from Mireio Raffle Makati‘s Menu Dejeuner. 3 course at 1,100++ & 2 course at 998++. Clockwise from top left: Homemade Chicken Liver Terrine with pickles & mesclun. Classic Beef Tartar. Parmentier Soup with Blue Cheese. And Nickoise Salad. Perfect summer offerings, I tell ya.

Because there were 4 kinds of appetizers, and there were four of us having lunch together, we decided to order each & thus got to taste a bit of everything. ;) This was Kap fave, hands down. Classic Beef Tartare (with raw egg) over the more plain Beef Tartare served at dinnertime.

Meanwhile, I was torn between this creamy, cheesy, Parmentier Soup with Blue Cheese..

and this refreshing Nickoise Salad with raw tuna bits. The assortment blends well & complements each other. Like I said, I like ’em both. But if push comes to shove, I’ll go for the salad. ;)

Perhaps the least fave among the 4 appetizers was this Homemade Chicken Liver Terrine with pickles & mesclun. I think we’re just not suave or bourgeois enough for liver.. or terrine for that matter hahaha.

Just like our varied taste in food, Kap & I are different in so many other aspects -and yet strangely, two-gether we work. He prefers lunch dates over dinner escapades. He likes the casual feel, while I prefer the more romantic, dress-up kind of date nights. Magkaiba talaga kami ng panlasa. He also prefers bright natural light so he can see his food properly, haha, while I go for dark, candle-lit ambience. And you already know his fondness for fly-lice & Chinese food over other cuisines. No honey, no fly-lice today ok! French tayo all the way. (PS: You should see the view from Mireio Raffles Makati come night time, the streets come alive with colorful city lights. <3 )

Kap may not have gotten his fly-lice fix on our double date, but he still got rice. He’s happy enough. ;P Featured main courses from Mireio Raffle Makati‘s Menu Dejuner: Clockwise from top left – Mariniere Clams with raz-el-hanout & french fries. Pan-Seared Mahi-Mahi with Tomato-Flavored Risotto. Pan-Seared Steak with french fries, bearnaise. And Homemade Spaghetti & Mushroom Carbonara. Délicieux!

Mariniere Clams. Again, Kap favored this dish over the rest & finished it all on his own.

While I sank my teeth into this juicy Pan-Seared Steak with french fries, & bearnaise sauce.

No fly-lice? No problem. Mireio Raffles Makati‘s take on rice.. the Pan-Seared Mahi-Mahi with Tomato-Flavored Risotto.

The least favorite again from the group, this creamy Homemade Spaghetti &  Mushroom Carbonara. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good on its own, but among the 4 featured lunch specials, the other 3 get the higher grades. ;)

Caught our dear Margaux brewing up a pow-wow storm at a business lunch meeting with other power ladies. It was so nice of Margaux to excuse herself from her meeting, come up, and briefly say ‘HI’ to us in spite of her super busy sked. Also bumped into Ate‘s bff Cesca who just graduated MAGNA CUM LAUDE from Enderun & is taking her practicum at Raffles Makati. <3 It must be our lucky day bumping into so many superstars!

Mireio-Raffles-Makati-Menu-Dejeuner-15

Speaking of superstars, here are the featured desserts from Mireio Raffle Makati’s Menu Dejeuner: Lavender Creme Brulee with lemon madeleine and roasted compote provencale. And Tart of the day, which that afternoon, was apple, my all time fave! *Sigh*, that is the sound of sweet contentment. :)

Lavender Creme Brulee with lemon madeleine and roasted compote provencale. Or commonly known as Baked Alaska aka leche flan na pinasosyal. Once Kap found out what is was, he claimed this as his own teehee.

Mireio-Raffles-Makati-Menu-Dejeuner-17

Which was okay with me coz I absolutely LOVED this sweet & tangy apple tart with vanilla ice cream on the side. The kind of tart varies daily, I was just lucky that it happened to be apple tart that very day, woohoo! <3
