Matgalne Korean Restaurant

It wasn’t by chance that I happened to drop by Matgalne Korean Restaurant one Wednesday noon. A dear reader pointed it out to me, and I’m just so thankful that she did! I’m beginning to love Korean food as much as japanese fare. <3

Thank you Naomi for your recommendation! You’re so sweet to think of me & point out the direction to my tummy’s happiness! And you went the extra mile too in providing me with the contact details. You love me so! <3

The 2 older kids were free that day so not only did I have a human GPS with me, we also had ate’s driver to take us around! m/ And boy am I glad we had our dear old Anderson along! GUBAT ANG MAKATI! Even with him driving us, we still got lost! Thank you Richie for indicating in your post that it was right in front of GILES HOTEL. Not that we knew where Giles was, but apparently all the people around the area were familiar with the hotel & pointed us to the right direction after so many U-turns! (And this is why you’re one of my few favorite bloggers. Kumpleto talaga ang detalye!)

Matgalne Restaurant, Main Branch

4768 Kalayaan Avenue Corner Mariano Street,

Poblacion, Makati City, Metro Manila

Tel #: (02) 890 – 2949

The signage doesn’t say MATGALNE so just look for the orange building across Giles Hotel, like Richie said. ;)

No nonsense interiors, but patronized by Korean nationals, which means 1 thing. ;) Authentic!

Any buffet set-up excites me no end! SUPER SULIT. :P

Jayook bokum also known as jaeyook kimchi bokum, is a delicious Korean dish that consists of marinated pork loin stir-fried with kimchi and red chili pepper paste.
I’m happy to say that I had a second, third, & fourth serving of this dish. That’s how good it was! <3

Not contented with the above spicy kimchi & pork dish,
I had more KIMCHI! Yummy yummy kimchi!!! <3 <3 <3

Their japchae was also good.

Pass. Too oily for my life. No to clogged arteries.

Pass. Koreans + sushi = NO.

Pass. Again, can you see the oil?

Caramelized yam & carrots. Pass. Too heavy. Save room for what counts. :)

Beansprouts. Okay. Just so you can say you ate healthy that day. :P

Egg pancakes. Okay, but super oily, so better wipe it down with a very thick towel!

Pass

omg PASS. Kahit pa gulay yan look at how deeply fried it is. Sumakit bigla ang dibdib ko.

Okay. Again just so you have something healthy on your plate. :)

Pass

Pass. Why is everything deep fried? Tinalo pa si KFC.

Soup.

Regular rice & fried rice

All together now! ;) Puro ako “pass” pero nasa plato ko naman lahat. :P

4 kinds of veggie for wrapping the bbq’d meats.

Beef slices. Go for the gold. Just load up on the beef & pork. Save for the kimchi & jayook bokum, ignore the rest of the banchan.

Pork. I was actually quite happy that I got to have my lettuce  beef & pork wrap! <3

For the month of February, Matgalne has a special Buy 1 Get 1 at 50% off promo.
399 php for beet & pork. 299 php for pork only.

The very friendly & hands on owner, Mrs. Windy Park, who hopped from table to table smiling at her guests. :)
My OOTD: Top by Criselda’s, Pants from our recent Forever 21 haunt.
My forever bag because the kids gave me a matching wallet. <3
And you know me & my penchance for anything matchy-matchy GAH!

And because we’re afraid of the talsik! ;P

Sizzling Beef

My 4 leafy veggies for my BBQ’d meat assortment, and the sauce that brings it all together. YUM! <3

Canned soda 60 php

My good-looking lunch mates who could easily pass for Korean pop stars. ;))
I missed my Lovey so deeply though. It was her turn to be in school while the 2 played hooky!

I’m really glad we were able to try this Korean restaurant. I really really enjoyed my lettuce wraps, kimchi & Jayook bokum. <3 For those alone, I wouldn’t mind going back again & again. Thank you, Noemi. Kap will be very very happy when I take him here for a date. ;) I just hope I remember the way going back!

Mommy Jane, it DOES say Matgalne. Well… it says Mat-ggal-ne jip = Matgalne Restaurant. Pilosopo tasya ang peg, only because inggit ako. I love Korean food! I even learned the language (a bit) just so I can read all-Korean menus. Ganda ng motivation no?

I hope you are getting some good eats where you are, Mommy Jane!

Hello Ms. Jane! I’m so glad you actually tried out my recommendation and relieved that you liked it. I just realized after reading your post that they do have a lot of oily stuff, it’s a good thing that there are also some real good items in the banchan to compensate. I do hope you get to bring Kap there, I’m sure he will love Matgalne’s wallet-friendly prices and promos. I’ll be waiting to read about your date :)
