Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen Revisited

Whenever pizza is mentioned in blogs or digital write ups, I always read about how Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen is THE place to visit in the South. Or it’s always in the Top 10 list of Must Visit places in the South. But since it’s within the maze of BF Resort, I never got to patronize it as I didn’t know the way about.

On our way home from Tagaytay one day, we luckily chanced upon Mama Lou’s Nuvali branch when the kids asked for a pit stop. After just one taste of their Buttered Risotto, I got hooked. So hooked that I made it my mission to make Mama Lou’s one of my 3-day weekend birthday celebration destination with some of my KTG foodie fambam!

Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen stands in the former Tremblay home in BF Homes, so dining there is just like dining at a friend’s house. The atmosphere & vibe is warm & most welcoming. The restaurant is situated in a residential area so it is best to call for directions so you don’t get lost.

I wasn’t actually surprised to see the restaurant full that particular Saturday night. We looked out our window from the comfort of our private function room & we found diners eating their meals al fresco on a make-shift table, hurriedly set up by the very patient wait staff. That’s how popular & full the restaurant is.

The interiors is as you would see any ordinary house. Just filled with wooden tables & chairs to accommodate its many guests. I can describe it best as homey. We felt right at home. Crystal was so gracious to give us the function room so we can all fit nicely & comfortably. Just so you have an idea, the air-conditioned area on the first floor can seat 130 guests, 50 more seats on the second floor, and 40 seats outside the al fresco area.

We were able to make as much ruckus as we wanted in the privacy of our own function room. Something that I truly appreciated since we can be quite a rowdy bunch when put together, haha!

I was so happy to finally meet the owners of Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen. French-Canadian Richard Tremblay, husband of the late MARILOU or Mama Lou as she is more popularly known. Their very pretty & hard-working daughter, managing partner CRYSTAL TREMBLAY -soon to be married to her very affable fiancé DAVID SISON, also a partner & the President of the company. Together, they manage the 3 branches of the late matriarch’s legacy.

Unfortunately, stricken by a debilitating disease, Marilou or Mama Lou (in wall photo), didn’t live to see her restaurant grow & expand. But her memory is kept alive by the loyal patrons of the restaurant, and in her loving family who has her for inspiration to work hard, branch out, and succeed.
