The first time we attempted to get in, they were closing. So no amount of carino to the strict lady bantay was able to get me inside. My charm usually works, but the management of Magnum Manila probably foresaw power play (or in my case, charm play) & installed a young albeit VERY strict, short-haired, brown-shirted spunky lady (who looked at us from head to toe & back up again) with a painfully forced fake half-smile at the door come closing time (you’ll know who she is I promise you). No meant NO. That put me in my place, lels.
The second time, we were able to get in but only for the bar area. The seating area was closed. The same lady (talk about bad luck) blocked our way to the booths & said the word I’ve come to hate so much.. NO -when I asked pleasantly if we can still get seated. Boohoohoo!
It was almost closing time at 9:30 PM when we went in for our 2nd attempt.. which proved semi-fruitful.
Step 1: COAT IT. 3 coats available – dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and caramel.
Step 2: TOP IT.
Step 3. DRIZZLE IT.
Step 4: SET IT.
Step 5: SHARE IT.
Step 6: LOVE IT!
Ate & her ultra posh & klazz BFFs. Happy smiles. Yep, they loved it, I’m sure of it. <3
The third time, we got lucky. So it’s true that third time’s the charm! \m/ We went right after lunch, still there was a good crowd on a Saturday. But by hook or by crook, it had to be THE day, so we waited patiently..
My baby girl was with her baby bishes so it was just the 2 big ones with me. I fet like a dwarf beside them.. and an alalay. They look like mowdels don’t you agree? (Sorreh, mommy pride) :P
For a pop-up store that will only be up for a year, the interior in uh-mazing!
I think this will fill quickly even before the year is up based on the people goig gaga to get a dose of this artsy fartsy magnum dessert by the “PLEASURE MAKERS”.
Death by Chocolate 300 php.
This.. LOOK AT IT. THIS WAS SO WORTH THE PILA!!! <3 I loved the chocolate mousse-like filling. Best of the bunch, in my opinion.
And I had it all to myself too! \m/
Ate would only order if there was Red Velvet. Unfortunately, they ran out na daw. I begged & begged for them to look in the ref somewhere. And my persistence paid. MAY NAHANAP!!! Guess what, Ate just ate ice cream, felt that she had enough calories for a day, and had the red velvet (which I begged endlessly to get) wrapped to go. FML.
I guess she just wanted a pretty picture! :P Red Velvet 250 php
Apple Pie 350 php
My babyson found the apple pie too sweet. But I think it’s the Magnum Gold that was too sweet coz I tried the pie & it was perfectly sweet & tangy at the same time.
I asked KHAYE if we could have a photo two-gether because she really went through ALL the refs, pantries, and whatnots to find me a slice of red velvet. I JUST LOVE HER! <3
The kids were so happy that their mom will finally shut up about Magnum, that they jumped for joy! :P
When we went, MAGNUM MANILA only offered sweet endings. Now they have savory meals as well conceptualized by CHEF HIM UY DE BARON.
Kids, it’s not over ’til I say it’s over. Guess what. We are SO going back for the savories. Live with it! :P
