Pets

Let’s help Maru!

Please allow me to interrupt our regular programming to bring this heart-breaking news. I got an email this morning which really made me sad & tearful. My family & I have pets whom we treat as family members. I don’t know how people can be so irresponsible pet owners! :'((

These are Jack & Jill, 2 month old puppies of our beloved Jela.
I cannot even imagine them having to go through the same fate as Maru!

I hope to raise awareness in whatever little way that I can for the sake of man’s best friend. People who cannot find kindness & compassion in their hearts for animals must not be allowed to have pets.

Hi Ms. Jane,

First off I’d like to say that I am an avid reader of your blog! AS IN EVERYDAY your blog post for the day is the first thing I’d check when I get to work haha I love how candid and real your blog is, especially those about your family. So more power to you and may God bless you and your beautiful family more.

On a more serious note, I am writing to you to ask a favor, Last week we were able to rescue a dog from our neighbor, although the neighbor feeds and shelters his dogs, this particular dog (Maru) has a huge tumor in her belly which is already prodding out and from talking to the owner, we found that he does not want to spend a dime for the treatment of Maru. In fact he said that if he had to spend money, he’d prefer to let Maru just die on her own.

My sister and I sought out the help of the animal organization CARA (Compassion and Responsibility for Animals) to help get the dog and bring her to the vet. We already coordinated with the owner, who at the very least, agreed to turnover Maru to us. However, although CARA is an animal organization, their president, Ms. Nancy Cu Unjieng, explained to me that their organization’s main purpose is to advocate spay and neuter of dogs and cats, as such their funds are only for use in their spay and neuter projects. As for Maru’s medical needs, we would need to raise the funds to cover her medical and recovery expenses. In that regard, I was hoping, through the power of your blog, that you may help us gain a larger audience to be able to raise more funds. I know you are super busy, and that you probably have a lot of things to do this holiday season, but if you can find time, maybe you can include Maru in your blog, or maybe you can share the post below in your instagram or facebook or even a short mention regarding the link below in your blog. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are just hoping to reach a larger audience.

I know from reading your posts that you are a dog-lover that is why kinapalan ko na po ang face ko and I e-mailed you. I know this is too much to ask, since we don’t personally know each other. But right now, we are just looking for ways to help Maru.

Thank you so much for reading this. Again, God bless you.
