Kulinarya Experience, KXP

The lovely Guia Bautista-Obsum of FOOD REVIEWS MANILA invited me again to join her for lunch, but this time at KULINARYA EXPERIENCE located in the new COMMERCE CENTER in Filinvest City.

Kulinarya Experience is a no-frills joint where you can bring you family & friends if you’re looking for a decent place to eat that doesn’t cost an arm & a leg. The simpler the place, the better. No padded expenses. ;)


We noted that everything on the menu, save for the family meal platters, were priced below 300 php. \m/


Greeting us as we came in was husband & wife team CARLO & PATRICIA MESINA. Chef Patricia is the Corporate Chef & Consultant for KULINARYA GOBAL (a family corporation that has varied interests in restaurants and other food service operations) as well as a passionate Food Stylist. Pat is a recipient of the “Golden Spoon” award, an honor given to the top graduate of the Center for Asian Culinary Studies, and is the creative force behind the restaurant’s dynamic menu selections.

Cool refreshing non-alcoholic drinks made for mock happy hour as we waited for the rest of our friends to arrive.


Carlo Mesina, a photography enthusiast, gave us some tips on food styling & food photography at the 2nd floor of KXP/


The stairs had funny but spot on quotes on every landing so I took more time than usual getting up as I just had to read each one! ;))


Being a photography noob, I learned a lot from the tips Carlo shared which I hope I can apply to my blog, lels.


After the brief demo, we were served the house special, Seafood Salad Maki 220 php. Seafood & crabstick salad rolled in Nori breaded & deep-fried, topped with ebiko. No rice here.


Hot cheese Nacho dip 285 php. Hot mozzarella cheese dip with pulled roast beef.


Asian Buffalo Wings 300 php. Coated in KXP’s special batter, deep fried then tossed in their asian buffalo sauce available in Mild, Medium, or Hot.


Happy hour came early. \m/ Passed my non-alcoholic Iced Tea to Kap & raised my hand quickly for 3 assorted cocktail drinks! ;P


Classic Lime Margarita 175 php, Red Sangria 195 php, and Flavored Mojito (Iced tea apple Lychee) 150 php. Sorry but I just can’t choose a favorite. I liked ’em all! <3


Steakburger 195 php. What is a Steakburger? It’s a burger with prime cuts of steak. with just the right amount of fat that makes it flavorful. What’s more, it’s freshly grinded, cooked hot off the griddle, and served in homemade sesame buns! <3


Cheesy Mac and Roast Beef 295 php. Really, really cheesy goodness in every bite! As you can see.


Personal sized thin crust pizza: Tex Mex 160 php, and Longganisa & Kesong Puti 135 php.


Carbonara with Truffled Egg and Pancetta 295 php which was my favorite of the day along with the 2 beef entrees.


Wafu Steak Pasta 250 php. Yakiniku style beef cubes & shitake mushroom on garlic sesame spaghetti topped with nori strips. This wasn’t as spectacular as I expected though, unlike the Carbonara above which I really liked & found flavorful.

Because the owners want KXP to be more of a family restaurant, they have introduced New KXP Platters served with side vegetables and choice of 2 sidings to their menu..




Grilled Steak Platter 995 php. 400g US Top Blade Steak served with Red Wine Sauce. Personally, this is good for one.. ME! ;)) I could easily polish off this plate of meat on my own. I loved how it was cooked to perfection -medium well, and the sauce & herbs that complimented it.


Surf and Turf 995 php. A platter of fork tender Roast Beef with Red Wine sauce and Baked Shrimp Thermidor Casserole. Good for 1 if you have a big appetite or if this the only thing you will order. Good for 2-3 if you want to sample other things on the menu.

I first met Guia at SILK ROAD when Kathi invited me for dinner to try Chef Cecile’s wonderful Thai food. Guia greeted me so warmly & made me feel at home right away in a tableful of strangers. Her endearing action is forever embedded in my heart where she occupies a place of honor. <3
