I’ve never been a big fan of katsu. Pork chop is pork chop. That is until Yabu came. Then I became addicted. More with the unlimited cabbage & soup than anything else actually. Paired with katsu it brings so much joy into my life. :P Which is funny because it’s just shredded cabbage & I don’t find anything special about it at home. So it’s probably the dressing that adds a dash of magic to it & makes it oh so yummy! :P
We’ve been going back to Yabu time and again sampling everything on its menu from new offerings to classic staples..
So when we were at Shangrila Mall during the holidays, it was love at first sight when we spotted the very newly opened KIMUKATSU !
Kimukatsu’s meat is different from the other katsus in the sense that Kimukatsu’s katsu is the combination of a crispy, texture-rich batter surrounding a juicy flavorful 25-layered select pork cutlet. Yes. Layers upon layers of pork, which is sliced thin and stacked into 25 layers. This layered cutlet is then covered with fresh breadcrumbs and fried. All the natural juices are kept inside between the layers and crispy batter – making it light and fluffy, yet extremely juicy and flavorful.
