I’ve been seeing this photo of Buttermilk Chicken from Kettle all over Instagram. There’s also this one small cafe in BF we’ve been to that tried copying the concept of buttermilk chicken -at the same steep price, but was only available on weekends so we didn’t get to try it to compare. Anyway, upon reading posts after posts on this chicken wonder, I was really really curious as to WHY people would pay 600 php (including all the ++) for a 2-pc. chicken! I mean it’s already the cost of 2 whole chicken combined!
KETTLE is a brainchild of the people from Tender Bobs. So their specialty is really chicken. Their featured food is the buttermilk chicken -boneless chicken thighs marinated for 24 hours with their secret buttermilk recipe fried to a perfect golden brown color and delicate crisp, partnered with honey and gravy, with three pieces of freshly baked cornbread on the side (which I loved by the way).
Last Christmas vacation, we had a chance to go to the new East Wing of Shangrila Plaza Mall since my girls wanted some PANDORA charms for their bracelets, a gift from their very generous aunt.
KETTLE, located on the 5th floor and specializes in sandwiches, was full of diners at off hours -we got there at 4PM, but not too full that day that we couldn’t get a table inside..

With all the new restos cropping up left & right, it’s good to try all for a variety. Some, you want to visit again & again. Some, you just want to say “been there, done that”. I think this one will fall under the former category in my book. ;)
Readers have suggested I start rating our dining experience according to a number of stars (or in my case, pigs). But I really can’t do that. Because what’s good for me may not be good for you. We have different tastes when it comes to food, among other things. So I’ll just keep calling it as I see it. Then we can all agree to disagree. :)
