Food & Dining Kap & Me My Kids

Locavore Kitchen & Drinks

I’ve been hearing so many things about LOCAVORE Kitchen & Drinks. Some good, some bad. Good food, bad service mainly. But in spite of, I decided to go & see for myself. I’m not a fan of Filipino food, as you know. But Filipino food with a twist, now I go for that! \m/

Pasig is not a place we would go all the way to visit just for a restaurant. Masyadong ma-effort. So when we had a staycation at Oakwood Premier Manila which was just a stone’s throw away from Locavore Kitchen & Drinks last weekend, and even though our tummies were still so full after a heavy rice meryenda, we still went ahead just so I can finally judge for myself & take it off my resto bucket list. Matigas talaga ang ulo ko. May sariling pagiisip! ;) But I’m so glad we did.

Locavore Kitchen & Drinks

Brixton Street, Kapitolyo, Pasig (02) 632 9600

I tried calling for a reservation but they don’t accept on weekends. So even with tummies heavy from a very recent meal not even 2 hours passed, we trekked to LOCAVORE Kitchen & Drinks to make sure we got seated. And I must have been on a lucky streak because there was ONE & only one table up for grabs in the air-conditioned area when we got there.

The Al Fresco situation. I prefer indoors. So nah.

The air-conditioned area. Definitely my scene. And the one & only table was awarded to us. Yay!! <3

I was on a mission to order all of the above among other things. But I had KJs for companions. So nasira lahat ng plano ko! @_@ Well 2 out of 6 ain’t bad.

The ultra KJs who wouldn’t let me order to my heart’s content. :|

Steamed Organic Brown Rice 70 php. IKR. Ma-sarsa food goes with steaming white rice! Huhuhu.

Kinilaw Trio: Fresh River Shrimp 220 php. Green mango, calamansi, patis, wansoy. | Kalibo Oyster 220 php. Cane vinegar, shallots, calamansi, red bell pepper, wansoy. | Tuna 220 php. Gensan tuna, wansoy, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, ripe mango, tagarashi.

Admittedly a bit pricey. But hey, this is FRESH seafood we’re talking about.

I Loved all 3. But I super loved the oyster best! <3 Ang saraaaaap!

Ginataang Kalabasa 390 php. Not your ordinary ginataang calabasa dish. This one is ala surf & turf with pork belly, sugpo, and french beans!

Kare-Kare Wings 290 php. Told you this was a Pinoy twist resto. I love how Locavore came up with interesting takes on old-time faves. Hipping it up.

Sizzling Sinigang 530 php. I’m not too keen on the soupy sinigang so this was really perfect for me. I love stews & the tamarind base of this dish is a winner! <3

Lechon & Oyster Sisig 400 php. Nuff said. I fell in love with Locavore Kitchen & Drinks.

Sisig Sausage Stick 280 php. Sisig in a sausage? FTW! but it works so well!

In as much as I loved the main dishes, the desserts didn’t really call out to me. I think I’m too much a fan of Neil’s Kitchen’s Desserts that I find them a tough act to follow..

Turon de Leche 220 php. meh.

Pandesal Pudding. 180 php. Nope.

In all honesty, our servers that night were courteous, attentive, friendly, and quick. Maybe the management got them sorted out, but whatever it is, I hope their chumminess & good service continues. Nothing can destroy a restaurant than bad service. No matter how good the food may be.

When in Pasig, I will most definitely visit Locavore Kitchen & Drinks again for the tasty main dishes & those fantastic kilawins! <3

I agree with you, Ms. Jane… Even if the food tastes great, pag bad ang CS, no way! Sayang naman di ba kung hindi nila mame maintain yung good CS nila. Dapat consistent sla in ensuring that customers will enjoy their dining experience.

Anyway, I have always liked Ginataan dishes even if I am Batanguenang Ilokana… Hehehe… Having said that, their take on Ginataang Kalabasa looks really yummy. Interesting din po yung Kare-Kare wings… Sayang lang kasi si husband lang mahilig sa kilawin… For sure, he will like the oyster kilawin…

Ay, okay lang po, Ms. Jane… No need to worry… :-) Thanks so much po!

Anyway, nakita ko nga po how big the oysters are sa kilawin… Ganyan ang mga gusto ni husband… Kahit steamed lang talagang favorite nya ang ousters… As for me, pass po ako. Hehehe…

Went here when there were on soft opening pa lang, I liked everything except for the pork dishes which were too salty back then. Will bring the boyfie here when he arrives. <3
