Kap & Me My Kids Others Staycations & Vacations The GOppets

Intro Diving at Anilao

Kap & the kids are water babies. I must admit I like the water too, it just depends on the place. Because our water sojourn has become a regular occurrence, Kap tries to save money by booking not-so-nice looking places so I end up not enjoying because I’m a very visual person. Pag panget ang lugar, sira na ang mood ko.

His reasoning is, why book an expensive place when we are out the whole day & we don’t get to enjoy the surrounding. The problem is, madiriin talaga ako. I can’t bear ugly bathrooms, not naman chuvaness levels but the dark, smelly, mouldy old ones talagang may kilabot factor & even after I’ve showered, I still don’t feel clean.

This one he booked in Anilao is so-so, we’ve been here a couple of times so siguro nasanay nalang ako. Pwede na although the bathroom really gives me the creeps every single time. Ang daming creepy crawlies (ipis, butiki, black ants atbp.) huhuhu. I have a strong aversion to lizards so whenever there are a couple lounging in our rented room I have a hard time sleeping lest it falls on me from the ceiling. Kadire.

Anyway, what brought us to Anilao Batangas this time around instead of the lake, is Kap’s idea to immerse the kids Intro Diving. So he booked an instructor for an Intro Dive course. The instructor ROSS VERIDIANO charged us a discounted rate of 2.5k/session/person for a one-on-one since we were a lot. A complete Intro Diving package costs 17.5k divided into a series of lessons. So Kap, panindigan mo yang sinimulan mo hehe.

As usual, along with our elevator-fie is also our regular car-fie! 😛

We had to park the boat elsewhere as Vista Aplaya didn’t have a slip-way for the boat to descend.

Kap always books at Vista Aplaya when we go to Batangas. It costs 4.5k/night. You can bring in your own food or have them service you for your entire stay. The best things to see in Anilao is the small macro-life like nudibranch, scorpionfish, ribbon eels, and such. The corals are mostly in good condition and there are thousands of anthias and damsels. Sometimes you can get lucky and when the currents are running see sharks and tuna. The great thing about Anilao is that it is close to Manila and makes diving accessible to lots of people.

There is a stairway going down to the beach, and that is our room (with the sliding door) right in front of the pool. Advantage is I can watch the kids frolic while inside an air-conditioned room when it gets too hot for me to stay outdoors. The downside is because the pool is right in front, maingay! And because we have a lounge outside, we can hear convos of the tambays at night. So take your pick, good or bad. 😛

Next order of business. EAT! Kap is in his element whenever he is near the water. Syokoy talaga itong asawa ko! 😛 My plate overfloweth. GUTOM!

After a hearty lunch, Ross gave the kids a small talk to Intro Diving before immersing. She started off with an overview about all the equipment and how to dive, basic safety guidelines, and some information about the fish and corals the kids will be seeing to ensure they enjoy them without damaging them.

Then the actual breathing-under-water lessons before the dive the next day. It is advisable for early morning dives when the water is calmer & clearer. I tried on the vest with the tank, MABIGAT HA!

Here, the kids (and Kap!) breathed on scuba for the first time. Ross said most people find it easier than snorkelling. After learning a few basic skills, they’ll head out to the beautiful reef just a short, easy swim away, and discover the amazing underwater world first hand. Diving on the reef for between 20 – 30 minutes, supervised at all times with a ratio of 1:1.

BAE Meaning: Babe / Before Anyone Else. BAE stands for babe It’s usually used online when referring to your significant other. My BAE! <3

The kids had fun because they were complete. It’s more fun in the Philippines with your gangsta!

We requested for a boodle fight as a hindsight. It was sudden, so they food we prepared wasn’t as complete as we’d hoped. Mas maganda sana kung kumpletos rekados. Itlog na maalat, kamatis, bagoong, sibuyas, the works. Oh well, it just means we’ll have to do it again next time! \m/

PicMonkey Collage04

The staff at Vista Aplaya prepared the food & did all the work for us. Yay! <3 Thank you!

As we were about to dig in, I looked for Kap my Kap to take my rightful place beside him. Nawawala! Nasaan si Kap my Kap???

PicMonkey Collageyyy

Yun pala he went to the car & got the portable fan he brought along for emergency cases like this. He noticed that I just took a shower & yet I was already sweating like crazy. Hindi uso ang electric fan sa Vista Aplaya, so he went out & got me my precious fan. Oh Kap, ako na ang pinagpala. Umabot ng dagat ang buhok ko. Haba ng hair! <3 Thank you for loving me so much & for always seeing to my needs. You spoil me so much!

PicMonkey Collagexx

Kinalabasan, wala kaming pwesto sa boodle fight. 😛 But I preferred our romantic & cozy table for 2. Mas sweet. Don’t you agree? 🙂 And nakatutok talaga sa akin si Hanabishi! ;)) Thank you mga anak for saving us some food & preparing us a plate. Ubos ang pagkain! When you’re with a big group, do not expect leftovers hehe.

Ayan, we ate under the “stars” 😉 Romantic dinner for 2 with the love of my life.

The next day, bright & early the kids went intro diving, and they LOVED it! The girls, having gone first, were able to see a school of barracudas & a giant turtle!

This is just an Introduction to Diving, not a certification. BUT if you get bitten by the diving bug, you can get certified. It takes as little as just one additional day to get you to your first level of certification. (There are 21 levels) And if you continue your diving education, your Scuba Dives count towards your certification.

Thank you for a wonderful weekend my Honey. Alam mo naman mareklamo lang ako -all bark and no bite. But deep down, I really appreciate all that you do for our kids, for our family. We love you & you give so much beauty & meaning to our lives! <3

There she is! <3 Our dear Lelly waiting for her family, kawawa. Next time we’ll take her along. She must have missed us for the 2 whole days we were gone, the helpers said she hadn’t left her spot waiting for us to come home. Boo.

Kahit saan kabuntot niyo talaga ang yate ni Kap your Kap?!

I recently met a person who owns a diving resort there in Anilao. Baka maka-discount tayo ng bonggang-bongga, do you want to go? Sixteen years ago, I tried intro-dive but 20 feet under sumakit ears ko I couldn’t equalize kaya hindi na naulit. But what I saw down there was a different world. Talagang napakanta ako ng, “Look at this stuff, isn’t it neat? Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete?……”

Na-inspire ako ni Jana and Jena, I wanna try diving again, this time with my kids! Oh maybe I will try underwater photography, too?!?

Hi, Ms. Jane! Pareho po pala tayo – whenever we go travel, pinipili ko ung visual over practicality. Maselan po ako lalo na sa CR. If di pasado ang itsura ng CR, no go! Hahaha! My husband is like Kap naman. Kung saan mas practical… But I always end up getting my way… 😉

Hindi na naman po tayo nakapag meet. Hindi ko kasi alam what day kayo nasa Vista Aplaya. If I had known nadalhan ko sana kayo ng itlog na pula na ensalada and maybe other food. Hehehe… Nakahanda na nga po yung stash ko for you including chocolates and Miriam’s Stupid is Forever More book. Maybe next time po.

But I am glad you were able to discover one of Bauan’s hidden gems – Johanna’s Grill. I’ve mentioned about it na po sa inyo before.

Anyway, hope to meet you soon. 🙂

Alam mo ba na ayaw ko sa beach? Except siguro kung mala-wuthering heights ang peg, yung gloomy/overcast weather habang nakatingin ako sa madilim na horizon, hahaha… My idea kse of a summer getaway is to get away from summer, so dapat sa malamig ang destination. =)

Sobrang bait naman ni Kap talaga, he knows you so well… pinagdala ka pa talaga ng fan. Alagang-alaga ka. =)

    Hi Ms. Jane,

I’m sure they will love diving!

Thank you Janet. Oo nga they super enjoyed. Iba na ang mga bagets ngayon they are so adventurous. Ako ang natatakot but the ratio of student/unstructor is 1:1 & I saw how Ross takes really great care of her students so medyo kampante na ako. 🙂
