#GOlobe30tting Day 5

Day 5

Our last whole day in Paris was pretty chill since we were able to go & see much of the places we wanted to see, and buy the things we wanted to buy yesterday. So just a few stopovers here & there and more shopping at one of the prime department stores in Paris, Galeries Lafayette. Hindi na kinaya ng powers at wallet ko ang Printemps. Next time na lang kung papalarin  uling makatapak ng Paris. ;)

We got lunch out of the way first at 11 am (when the restos in the area opens shop) so we can concentrate on our full afternoon of activities without going hangry. Kap immediately zoned in on a cheap eats chinese eatery he took an instant liking to, one of the 2 we’d been frequenting throughout our stay.

One thing when travelling with Kap is we don’t expect to indulge in fine dining. When we travel, we are trained to eat & ride cheap, but ang pang-bawi namin, we shop hard naman, lol. Ok na rin, tangible is always better than intangible hehe.

In fairness, masarap sya. At kahit na turo-turo, iba pa rin ang ambience ng nasa Paris hehe! ;P Budget is around 500 php/person every meal. Pasado kay Kap! \m/

Dropped by __ & Palais Garnier on the way to Galeries Lafayette for a bit of picture-taking & sight-seeing.

Sorry can anyone help me please? Which place is this again?

The Palais Garnier is a 1,979-seat opera house which was built from 1861 to 1875 for the Paris Opera. It was originally called the Salle des Capucines, because of its location on the Boulevard des Capucines in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, but soon became known as the Palais Garnier, in recognition of its opulence and its architect, Charles Garnier.

The theatre is also often referred to as the Opéra Garnier and historically was known as the Opéra de Paris or simply the Opéra, as it was the primary home of the Paris Opera and its associated Paris Opera Ballet until 1989, when the Opéra Bastille opened at the Place de la Bastille. The Paris Opera now mainly uses the Palais Garnier for ballet.

On to more shopping. Ate is so hard to please, so when she fell immediately in love with a bag, I pushed her into getting it. Masyado naman yata akong maka-push at 2 agad ang napusuan. May terno pang sapatos, lol. Ok lang, it’s not often that she finds a bag she really likes anyway. Mahirap talagang patibukin ang puso nya! ;P

Galleries Lafayette.  First inaugurated in 1893, the Galeries Lafayette department store is a Paris fashion institution. Located near the stately Opera Garnier, this is an essential stop for fashion enthusiasts. The Lafayette Coupole offers over 45,000 square feet of women’s designer fashion, spread across three floors. The men’s collection at Lafayette Homme is also extensive and always on the pulse of fashion trends.

Store Layout: The “Galeries” comprises  three main buildings, and includes the following departments: The main building, Lafayette Coupole, houses designer collections, “young fashion” and children’s fashion, cosmetics, jewelry and accessories, books, music, and electronics. The Lafayette Marriage Boutique is also located in the Coupole. A restaurant and terrace on the top floor provide stunning views. Lafayette Homme connects to the Coupole through a covered passageway and features men’s fashion and accessories, as well as a gourmet food shop , Lafayette Gourmet. Lafayette Maison across the street features the latest in home furnishings.

School bag! PUTI.. Bagay for med school, right guys? Ateneo Blue pa ang kulay ng loob hehe. Ate thought long & hard between the 2. But in the end, the one on the left won out. Kayo, anong palagay nyo? :)

My Lovey is into gold. Gold hardware, gold accessories. So she lusted after this pair of gold sunnies by Dior, another one to add to her modest but growing designer collection. Nakabili na sya kahapon ng bag & shoes, mej nahiya na sya sa nanay nya even though I kept asking her if she wanted something else from the store. Kaya naman sulit silang i-spoil, marunong pumreno. ;P

Having daughters is costly. VERY COSTLY, lemme tell you. But in the same manner. Sulit din naman kung magmahal, mag-alaga, at maglambing, very sulit. :)

Meanwhile, I set my eyes on this pretty Gucci floral backpack. I saw one back in Manila but the color didn’t strike me much. This one did though. Sold ora mismo. I hope to use it in many more travels ahead.. fingers & toes crossed.

Me so happy! <3 I love painted-on bags, as you can probably tell with my maleta, lol. May “X” factor.

OMG, 5 days in & gasgas na si mastercard. :P All the brands we love are under one roof, it’s impossible not to go crazy at Galleries Lafayette. Parang ayaw ko na yatang umalis ng Paris huhu.

Nagtataka kayo paano kami naka-pamili without strict, adult supervision?? Ayan kasi, si Kap & my babyson left us to meet up anothet father-and-son tandem, both childhood friends at Laduree. Girlie place for manly boys, trololol. Dainty food for guys wih big appetites! :)) Akala siguro kasama ang wifeys kaya dun nag-meet up. Yun pala nagpaiwan ang wifeys para mag-shop pa more.

The guys met up at Laduree along the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, a boulevard known for its theatres, cafés and luxury shops, and for the military parade that takes place each year on the avenue on 14 July to celebrate Bastille Day. The name is French for the Elysian Fields, the paradise for dead heroes in Greek mythology. The French proudly nickname this world-famous avenue “la plus belle avenue du monde” (“the world’s most beautiful avenue”).

Paguwi nila tinanong ko si Kap.. kumusta meryenda? Ang sagot: Anong makakain jan, gutom pa ako! ;)) Trololol!

My Bae wanted to take a video of the twinkling Eiffel Tower so they led me home for a power nap & a snack before heading out once again. Wala na, mashonda na talaga ako. Hindi ko na kaya ang all-day walking with no break.

She tries to get her hands on crepes as much as she is able to. :) On rare times that Kap is not out looking for rice meals.

On our way, we made a quick stop at Pont des Arts, the original love-lock bridge, to leave a keepsake in Paris..

It is more economical & faster to go on the Metro, which is what Kap is trying to instill in me. Uber pa rin ang gusto ko! :P Beh.

The Pont des Arts is a pedestrian bridge in Paris which crosses the River Seine. It links the Institut de France and the central square of the Palais du Louvre.

Between 1802 and 1804, under the reign of Napoleon I, a nine-arch metallic bridge for pedestrians was constructed at the location of the present day Pont des Arts. This was the first metal bridge in Paris. The engineers Louis-Alexandre de Cessart and Jacques Dillon initially conceived of a bridge which would resemble a suspended garden, with trees, banks of flowers, and benches. The French Ministry of Culture listed the Pont des Arts as a national historic monument.

The bridge has sometimes served as a place for art exhibitions, and is today a studio en plein air for painters, artists and photographers who are drawn to its unique point of view. The Pont des Arts is also frequently a spot for picnics during the summer.

Signed, sealed & delivered. Pont des arts, the original love-lock bridge. Love intact, secrets kept. Now no one can ever tear us apart.

Since late 2008, tourists have taken to attaching padlocks (love locks) with their first names written or engraved on them to the railing or the grate on the side of the bridge, then throwing the key into the Seine river below, as a romantic gesture. This gesture is said to represent a couple’s committed love

From 1 June 2015, city council workmen from Paris started to cut down all the locks after years of complaints from locals. Health and Safety officials said the romantic gestures cause long term Heritage degradation and danger to visitors. Pero alam nyo na, may matitigas pa rin ang mga ulo.. tulad nalang ng GOppets! :P

Tomorrow, we set off early to London via a train. Excited! Update you guys once we settle in. Kisses from Paris, guys! I bid you goodnight with a beautiful photo & video of the colourfully-lit Eiffel Tower. Grabe ang rayumang inabot namin para lang masilayan yang twinkle twinkle little stars! :-*

Constructed using puddle iron, the Tower is protected from oxidation by several coats of paint to ensure that it lives forever. The Tower has been re-painted 18 times since its initial construction, an average of once every seven years. It has changed colour several times, passing from red-brown to yellow-ochre, then to chestnut brown and finally to the bronze of today, slightly shaded off towards the top to ensure that the colour is perceived to be the same all the way up as it stands against the Paris sky. Sixty tons of paint are necessary to cover the Tower’s surface, as well as 50 kilometers of security cords, 5 acres of protection netting, 1500 brushes, 5000 sanding disks, 1500 sets of work clothes…and more than a year for a team of 25 painters to paint the Tower from top to bottom.

Life is a happy adventure with you in it. <3 Thankful for all the memories we make together, my Honey.

Jane, when I had my first trip to Paris and London 3 years ago, naloka rin ako sa shopping. Same philosophy, we decided to save on food and accommodations for sightseeing and shopping (so we stayed at Ibis lang, but it was surprisingly ok).

Ang resulta, I came back with four bags. Bwahaha.
