Food & Dining Kap & Me My Kids Staycations Staycations & Vacations The GOppets

#GOdavao2016 (Day 2)

I have no athletic bone in my body, not a single one. In fact, I don’t have any bones in my body. Fats. Fats is what’s holding me up. ;))

When Kap was looking up on what to do in Davao and the mention of Whitewater Rafting came up, I knew I was doomed. There was NO WAY I was joining that expedition. After my fall from a banana boat a while back & suffering the most painful backlash that lasted 2 weeks of sleepless nights, I will never ever subject myself to another torture. So I said HELL NO.

I tried dissuading Kap & the kids, they always like to do the daring stuff, para silang mga nagmi-midlife crisis! I really fear for their safety. But they are a stubborn lot, ayaw magpaawat ng mga leche. Bahala sila. Basta ako, beauty rest. Staycation in every sense of the word while they paddle & row. My one & only condition, umuwi sila ng buhay at walang galos. Kung hind, double dead!

What a beautiful morning in Davao. If I weren’t such a sissy, I’d go back to bed & sleep. But fact is, I’m deathly afraid of ghosts. I absolutely kenat sleep on my own. And so, I drew the curtains wide open para may illusion na HELLO WORLD, I am not alone! :P

Hmmnnnn.. what to do to while my time away. I forgot to bring my laptop so I could’t spend my morning blogging. I didn’t like any of the tv shows. I wasn’t in the mood to read. Aha! Massage! I can sleep if someone was in the room with me. Perfect. ;)

So I hurriedly called for a room-in breakfast, took a quick shower, and waited for my 3-hour massage to come. Genius! <3 By the time I was done, Kap & the kids would have been back & I will have companions. It was so perfectly orchestrated that I could hug myself. :))

I like heavy hands. Herlyn was my soulmate & I dozed off happily. Tanggal lahat ng lamig ko.

Kap & the kids checked up on me regularly. They wouldn’t have enjoyed their trek as much if I were with them anyway. I nag about their safety & well-being, especially when I’m scared or anxious. So maba-bad trip lang sila sa akin kakasigaw ng.. HAWAAAAK! KAPIIIIIT! BAKA KA MALUNOOOOOOD!

Lunch came soon enough. I was still full from my heavy American Breakfast, but room service beckoned. Margherita Pizza & a slice of chocolate cake please?

Pizza was meh. This chocolate cake, however, was THE BOMB! Can you see how moist & chocolatey it is? I should have dissed the pizza & gone for TWO slices of this cake! <3

Meanwhile, I asked Kap & the kids to take lots & lots of photos to regale me with fun stories after. They did not disappoint. Para lang alam nyo, hindi po ako nainggit! :P

Base Camp Davao

Philippine Red Cross Building, Manuel Roxas Avenue, Davao City, Philippines  09323500921, 09272756099 or (082) 321 6311 ; (082) 305 7624

The moment we landed in Davao, first on the agenda was to go to Crocodile Farm to book a river rafting activity for Kap & the kids before anything else. It was a weekend & we feared there wouldn’t be any more slots open available. We were right. Our driver/guide took us to another alternative, BASE CAMP. Turns out to be our lucky day because not only was it 200 pesos cheaper per person, the GOppets got to have their own raft too instead of riding with strangers! \m/

Base Camp offers packages for the adventurous ranging from whitewater rafting (1.5k/person inclusive of lunch), mountaineering, caving, and many more. Here is their experience in pictures which I am happily sharing with you guys.. (walang caption coz obviously, I wasn’t there hehe)

Parang ang saya-saya. Except they came home with gashes & umpog sa likod when the boys hit a big rock when they fell in. Diba kabilin-bilinan ni Nanay walang galos! @_@ And here they were already talking about whitewater rafting in CDO. Magwe-welga na ako ha!

Philippine Eagle Center

Malagos, Baguio District, Davao City 8000 Philippines
Entrance Fee: 50 adults / 30 youth

Zzzzz.. pagoda! ;))

The Philippine Eagle Center is home to 36 Philippine Eagles, 18 of which are captive-bred. It also houses 10 other species of birds, 4 species of mammals and 2 species of reptiles. Simulating a tropical rain forest environment, the Center offers the visitor a glimpse into the country’s forest ecosystem. Although the exhibits are used primarily to help educate the Filipino people on conservation, the facility is also considered a major tourist attraction in Davao City.

I love the personal touch. Is it too late to include The GOppets?? :'(

Shoefie. ;)

It was SUPER hot inside, it’s like I bathed in my own sweat after our tour. But seeing the Philippine Eagle up close & personal was worth it.

Wear comfy & loose clothes. But make sure to bring mosquito repellent. The Center seems like their picnic ground! Hong domeh!

Chaneling Alden & Maine. We’re so jej. Ew. :P

Feel na feel nya talaga ang eagle! :P Sige anak, Fly High.

We had some time to spare before dinner, and the kids seemed to have a 2nd wind on their energy levels, so we decided to go all touristy & see the Cultural Village Fire Dance at the Tribu K’ MINDANAWAN..

Kap has this thing about keeping us busy & occupied the whole time we are away. Allergic sya sa pahinga, have you noticed? Our only rest is downtime in the van on our way to the next place! @_@

Our chinese dinner, up next.

Bilib na talaga ako sa sense of adventure ni Kap. Parang one of the kids pa rin. Haha! Looks like they had so much fun during their Whitewater Rafting. At talagang packed with itineraries ang bakasyon ninyo. No time wasted.

My gosh, picture pa nga lang ang sarap na tingnan nung chocolate cake. What more sa totoong buhay? :D

Sobrang exciting naman ang activities ng GOppets (sans the Queen, hehehe…). Siguro kung medyo bata-bata pa ako at walang sandamakmak na sakit, sasama ako sa mga adventures nila.

Hope you enjoyed your staycation sa Dusit, Jane! It’s so weird that we’re just a few buildings away… parang kapitbahay na tayo, hahaha…
