Extraordinail Salon and Skin Care

I may be old & chubby but I’m certainly not boring or frumpy. ;P I like buying clothes, dressing up, and going to the salon just like the next girl. And I’m kikay as kikay can be. So when I saw this nail art on Instagram, I knew I had to go try it myself.

Saw this from my friend’s IG page. Love at first sight! Thank you Ching for sharing your find! <3 Ching is the owner of LIVESTOCK.

In all my 45 years, I’ve never had acrylic nails. I’ve always kept my nails short since I became a mother. I would get regular manipeds but I’ve always kept my fingernails short mainly so I didn’t unintentionally scratch the kids, then I just grew accustomed to short & kept it that way.

That is until VERONICA RESURRECCION, owner of EXTRAORDINAIL SALON & SKIN CARE told me that I needed longer nails for the nail art, and we needed to do acrylic extensions. I’m all for art, so I told her staff to go for it.

Manicure 230 php, Pedicure 260 php. Footspa 300 php. Gel Nail Polish 600 php, Nail Art 25/50/75/100 depending on the difficulty of the art you want. Acrylic Nails 1,100-1,300 php depending on the shape & length. Gel extension 1,200 php. Nail Candies cost anywhere from 25-150 php/piece. And a Chrome (gold) Nail costs 100 php/piece.

With the very pretty, very young-looking mother of 3, VERONICA RESURRECCION. I couldn’t believe that she is a mother to a 13 year old little lady. She really does know how to take care of her appearance.

This area is for the walk-in manipeds clients. The salon gets full quickly & has limited seats so I advice you call ahead to make an appointment. Nica has 9 staff employed for her nail & skin services.

Should you wish to have some privacy to snooze off, or get some work done, you may opt to book this VIP room for an additional cost of only 200 php for the duration of your service. You get your own air-conditioned room, your own television set, and your own loveseat. Away from the hustle & bustle.

There are 4 lounge chairs in the inner sanctum for the nail art & nail swag treatments, and another 4 chairs outside for the regular manipeds.

Here’s my step by step procedure that I am sharing with some of you who may be interested in getting nail extensions. You can opt for GEL or ARYLIC. Nica advised me to get acrylic as it tends to last longer & does not chip easily.

The scent of the acrylic was really strong so I asked for a mask as I was coughing heavily. It helped a lot & made the 4-hour procedure bearable. If the scent is still strong, you may ask for another one to make a double mask.

First order of business: Maniped, buffing, then on to the acrylic nail extension. Here my manicurist is putting a shaper for the acrylic to adhere to.

There’s a hole in the shaper where my nail is.

The acrylic powder & builders are mixed & applied on my real nails to form an extension.

On my pinky is the acrylic extension ready to be buffed. It was coated on top of my real nails & extended onto the shaper to make a natural flow.

My acrylic nails are then buffed & formed. But prior to that, you have to let them know the shape you want. I asked for a square cut instead to an oval one.

Meanwhile, someone else is doing my other hand, and also my feet. Talk about being Donya for a day! ;)

After my acrylic nails were buffed to perfection, the CHROME nail comes in. I asked for accent nails for my 2 ring fingers. I really LOVE gold! <3 Chrome nail costs 100 php a pop.

A last top coat of gen nail polish is painted on to give it a finished look.

Then dried under the ultraviolet lamp. They have applied nail gel in lieu of regular nail polish so my nail color will last longer.

The nail artist finally gets her turn. You can ask for any nail art that you want. They don’t have an album where you can choose your nail art so you better research ahead of time. Ate found a Ms. Piggy theme for me so I happily went ahead with that. <3

Ate found this for me online. She knows how much I love Ms. Piggy. Thank you so much, Ate! <3

And this too, for my other hand! <3

Nail art tools. Matrabaho talaga! Allot 3-4 hours for the maniped, acrylic, nail art & drying time. Remember, patience is a virtue! ;))

I must admit, it was a challenge for the artist as it’s not the usual mail art. She spent around 30 minutes on Ms. Piggy alone.

But she managed to pull it off, don’t you think? :) Next came the SWAG. Swags are nail candies, or decors glued on to your nails to enhance the design.

So many cute candies to choose from, with spikes too for the hard core gals! ;) Candies cost from 25 to 150 php depending on how elaborate you want to go. Swarovski pieces cost 100 php each.

Meanwhile, my other hand gets a different set of colors. Fun, fun, FUN!!! <3

Tada.. my beautiful nails! <3 Don’t you think it’s so swag??? I LOVE IT!!! Something like this costs 3k which includes a maniped with gel nail polish for the hands, acrylic extension. 2 nail candies, 2 swarovski studs, 2 chrome nails, and 7 nail art. Not bad for a 4-hour job!

Thank you so much Nica for  my wonderful acrylic nail experience! It was really time well spent at your beautiful & posh salon. I’m really so in love with my nails & I will surely visit again for more nail arts!

I also like Nica’s nail art. I may just try it next time! I love spikes & studs too.

And even in nails, I am always & forever glued to my Kermy..

Kahit sa kuko.. walang iwanan! ;))

PS: The thing with long nails is, I can’t text properly. Heck I can’t even type properly. Tiis-ganda, the price to pay for beauty. :P So if I send your curt replies with no emoticons through text messages or emails, please blame it on the nails! ;))

Ang sheshyel ng gold foil! Ive never tried acrylics. My sister gets acrylics done all the time or no mani at all. She doesnt like kasi short nails. Ako naman short and square lang lagi. Kailangan talaga kikay because if you’re not, hassle ang upkeep dba Ms. Jane? Thats why I love gel/shellac polishes. Kasi pwedeng magskip ng 3 weeks ang kakikayan ko lol

Hi stumbled upon your blog… I really wanna do acrylic extensions but hesitate because nga of the price. Is the price worth it? How long did it last?

For me, yes super worth it especially if you don’t have time to spend in the salon for house in end weekly. :) Mine lasted for about 6 weeks. It’s hard to let it grow longer than that coz you can’t function properly i.e. texting/writing/typing. The fingernails get in the way when it gets too long. But overall I was very happy & wouldn’t mind doing it again if I go on a long trip. :) Thank you for dropping by Nicole.
