Our Quick HK Getaway Day 1

Instead of giving our kids a big joint party for their monumental birthdays (sweet 16, 18, and legal 21) I asked Kap if we can just go away on a short trip. The kids also concurred that rather than spending on food, drinks, and decors, we just give them the money for their shopping pleasure. #MukhangPera And so, naudlot ang halloween special ko leaving me with several skeletons (so to speak) in the closet! Off to HK we went for the long undas weekend.

The 2 girls & I connived & booked an early flight out to HK. Excited ba! Departure was scheduled at 5:40 am so we had to be there at least 2 hours ahead of time. Plus 30 minutes to get ready & another hour travel time to the airport to be sure we don’t miss our flight. Ang resulta, hindi nalang kami lahat natulog, thus our zombie state.

Not having anticipated that the whole of Metro Manila was also leaving for someplace that weekend, ang haba ng pila! We had exactly 5 minutes before the gates closed on us. I kid you not. If we were not in a rush I would have asked the kids to take a video of my mini-marathon. The 1st & last time you’d see me actually sprinting for my life! 😛

It’s been a while since we’ve been on an international trip, and inspite Kap’s grumblings, I knew he was as excited & as happy as me! <3 PS: Do you see the shopping bag that Kap is carrying? Nope that’s not Duty Free. TUBIG ANG LAMAN NYAN! Mahal daw kasi sa airport. Ahuhuhu!

PicMonkey Collage1

Happy kids, happy wife, happy life! 😉

And with that, our misadventure finally began. But I don’t mind, because these are the stories that you remember. Not the perfect but boring walang-kaganapang setting. Long after we’re gone, these are the funny mishaps that our kids will be telling their own kids of our escapades.

IMG_6595

Because #cheapseats #cheapstays ang usapan, syempre #cheaptranspo is not far behind. Hayz. Bawal daw mag-taxi, so unli Octopus Card ang drama.

PicMonkey Collage2

Starting with this double decker bus. @_@

The GOppets. Half on the ground floor, the other half on the 2nd floor. LQ kami, I wasn’t speaking to him –nagpapalamig ako ng ulo.

 —

Now, since the trip was made without the blessing of Kap (inambush namin sya hehe!) he made it clear that he was the one booking our stay. Cheap trip & cheap thrills all the way ang usapan para lang matuloy, gah! Since I won the first round of the battle & I figured madami pang kasunod, I had to concede to the man of the house to restore peace & buy time for the next big battle, lol.

However, when I finally saw the flat he booked, I changed my mind. I itched to start a world war 3. The shower is the same location as the trono. I’m telling you, the whole of HK must have heard my scream of terror! 😐 #chengeneng

PicMonkey Collage3

Location, location, location was the name of the game. Kap booked our flat dahil daw paglabas, MTR na! And true enough, just a couple of steps away was the flight of stairs leading to the train. CHAR! Fine, lusot na si Kap! 😐

You shower where you $h!+ FML!

What’s more (oh yes, meron pa!), the elevators were teeny tiny, only 5-6 can fit. And construction was on-going, so every time it would reach our floor, puno with equipments & shiz kasama ang pagka-babangong trabahador. We had to use the treacherous stairs FROM THE 12th FLOOR to get out of the hell hole that Kap booked for us. Grrr!

NKKLK! The sitch did not sit well with my first day of “the coming of the monthly visitor”. (sorry TMI) Mainit ang ulo ni Le Miz Piggy. The itinerary Ate prepared for the day involved whole day walking outdoors. I had a choice of either staying in, or all day walking. For the 1st time in my life & in the history of mankind, pinili ko ang maglakad.

Lunch

IMG_6598

Kap attributed my crankiness to gutom (and not with his cheapness), so he decided to sweeten the deal & butter me up by feeding me at Macau Yummy Yummy just a short distance away.

We each got a bowl of steaming noodles & other extras. Total bill: 250 hkd.

Sights

PicMonkey Collage2

Before anything else (and because we didn’t have roaming dahil alam nyo na!), we got a prepaid card for our pocket wifi, and exchanged some money to get the ball rolling.

IMG_6618

IMG_6622

At tuwang-tuwa pa talaga silang mag-public transpo! ? Sige, the one here in Manila will be your mode of getting from A-Z from now on, lol.

PicMonkey Collage3

Ate got it into her head to visit the Flower Market Road, aka Hongkong Dangwa! 😛 Pagbigyan.

IMG_6634

“A rose by any other name would smell as sweet”.. at ako ang pinaka-malaking bulaklak evar. In fact, isa na akong malawak na hardin! Wrong OOTD! 😛

PicMonkey Collage4

Passed by this street food stall, got some octopus (an ode to Kap’s fave public transpo) & intestines (kasi gusto ko syang pagbuhol-buholin). Yumyum! <3

#cheapbuys equals Mongkok..

After 987654321 miles of walking and going in & out of many MANY stores, Kap finally found the racket he’s been lusting after. Oh my golly wow. The kids pitched in & paid for it, this is their I-O-U birthday gift to their dad. 🙂

Dinner

PicMonkey Collage01

Duck dinner at Fairwood Fast Food, also just a short distance away. I’m beginning to see Kap’s point. When you’re tired after a very long day, NEAR is very favorable.

PicMonkey Collage2

When in HK, budget duck according to Kap. Hay buhay. Beggars can’t be choosers, sa gutom ko I’ll eat anything! Dinner: 250 hkd. Kap is once again, very very happy! 😛

GOppets! 😛

Before we turned in, softee! Sweets for my sweets who are so game with our misadventures. I’m one lucky mommah. Thank you GOppets! :-*

Nakaka-miss nga HK, dati halos linggo-linggo nandito ako, may isang beses pa umalis ako ng 5am tapos bumalik ng 10am on the same day, kasi may pinakuha lang sa akin ang boss ko, hahaha… Last ko pumunta dito was 2002… it’s been soooo long!

I am relishing every word you’ve written here… sobrang aliw talaga! Can’t wait for tomorrow’s post.

Grabe Achie Jane! You’re sooo funny! But seriously, I love how you always turn something negative into something positive (and super funny!).
I showed my husband your post, and I told him I love him pero wag nya talaga ako ibook ng hotel room na similar yung CR! As much as we all can multitask, ayaw ko! 🙂 haha pero grabeng bro code ng mga lalaki, he was defending the CR baka naman daw may space pa for taking the shower, baka may ibang side yung shower holder, etc. Really?
Kaya before booking rooms, I inspect the CR photos hehe

Ms. Jane, nakakaloka yung “you shower where you s#!t” Hahaha! Hahaha!
