Food & Dining Kap & Me My Kids Staycations & Vacations The GOppets

Bicol Day 2, Part 2

Since we were on borrowed time as we had to go back to Manila the next day, even with aching muscles & tired but happy bodies from trying to catch up with them agile whales, Kap decided to rush us back to Legazpi in time for an ATV sunset ride to Mayon Volcano.

After going around & comparing prices between several ATV operators, Kap finally settled on ALBAY ATV ADVENTURE where he got the cheapest package, lol. Naiyak is Koya sa mega tawad ni Kap my Kap! ;))

We got the 3-hour Black Lava Trail which includes the rough roads, a must for thrill seekers. The kids certainly enjoyed our adventure.

With my knight in shining armor, riding off into the sunset haha.

The 3-hour ATV scenic ride includes a short break up the lava trail. It was already dark when we got there. Going up was tricky but coming down those slippery rocks was an accident waiting to happen. My careless babyson, who I always have to remind to slow down & not be too macho in his ways, fell & rolled down -scraping both his legs & arms. I thank God that it was minor albeit painful injuries. It could have been worse -like bumping his head or breaking his bones. I am always thankful for God’s mercy & traveling protection.

2.5k for a solo ride 3 hrs with view of Mayon. 4k for the angkas ride. Syempre, landi-landi that I am I chose to ride angkas with my #OTL. May driver na, may chancing pang kaganapan. 😛

Slippery even when NOT wet, these lava rocks are very challenging to climb.

I begged off midway & returned to camp after seeing the steep climb, but these energizer bunnies made it to the top, woohoo! \m/

Ang problema, yung ispageting pababa ng pababa. My babyson rolled huhuhu all the way down. Ayan tuloy, daming sugat.

We heard that one of Legazpi’s specialties is the Mayon Pizza featured at SMALL TALK CAFE. Shaped like a volcano & stuffed with sili – an active ingredient in all bicol meals, this one-of-a-kind pizza is a must-try for visitors.

Small Talk Cafe

Located in an old house in downtown Legazpi, Small Talk Cafe is a favorite hangout place of both locals & tourists. The Cafe was still filled with hungry guests when we walked in at 9:30 pm. The cozy cafe displays old memorabilia, photos & paintings.

(L) We ordered the Bicol Express Pasta 105 php. Spicy & unique, sure to be a hit among tourists. Pasta Pinangat 110 php. Similar to the spicy laing, this is truly bursting with flavors. The triangular volcano-shaped Pasta Mayon 155 php is the perfect complement to the Mayon Pizza. (Bottom Right) Pili Pie 65 php. Nothing extraordinary, but it’s something to order nonetheless just because of the homegrown & unique pili ingredient. 😛

Mayon Volcano in a pizza?? Why not? Loved the spicy stuffed Mayon Pizza 350 php at Small Talk Cafe in Legazpi Albay. But loved the crunchy thin crust Bicol Express Pizza 280 php even more (photo above). Do try it when you go for a visit.

Went back to our hotel happy & fulfilled. Swimming with the butandings & seeing the majestic Mayon up close, another check marked off our bucket list!

Thank you so much Bicol for this wonderful opportunity. <3 Up next, our last day in Albay.
