Indulgence by Irene x Chef Works Manila

Irene Co‘s popularity can’t be stopped! She’s on a roll in her fast climb to the top. Indulgence by Irene has been featured so many times that it was inevitable she’d be photographed, interviewed, and televised soon for all the world to see. Everyone seems to want to know, WHO IS IRENE???

Meet Irene Co aka Mrs. Tales From The Tummy. <3 Ever smiling, ever indulgent.

and meet her exemplary cheesecakes. My personal fave is the Halo-halo Cheesecake (right). Sweet Corn and Ube Cheesecake with a layer of home made langka jam in the middle. SOBRANG PANALO! \m/

She’s always at bazaars & charity events so do look out for her when you’re in one & say HI. :) She won’t bite, she’d even offer you a free taste. Won’t you try?

In fact, the clamor for her cheesecakes has been astounding that she has been hand-picked & included in the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s Best Desserts 2 coffee table book launch that happened at the SMX Convention Center just yesterday! \m/

Now if you know Irene, you’ll agree when I say that she’s a simple no-frills lady. Her biggest & brightest accessory is her nice & ever-present smile. In a crowded room, you’d find her in a heartbeat. The petite lady baker with a shy smile serving her now super famous cheesecakes!

But she’s not all business. She’s all heart too, which is why I love her so much. Always ready to help anyone at a moment’s notice. So to celebrate her accomplishments, I wanted to present her her very own Chef’s Jacket for when she’s shining at the bazaars & events.

She was invited to another charity event just last week by the ICanServe Foundation at the Enderun Tent for Lifestyle Channel’s ‘Around The World In Small Plates’, a curated charity dinner featuring over 25 of Manila’s top chefs like Chef Sharwin Tee of  Curiosity Got the Chef, Chef Robby Goco of Cyma, Chef Gene and Gino Gonzalez of Café Ysabel, Chef Him Uy de Baron of Cocina Peruvia, Chef Chele Gonzalez of Vask & Arrozeria! and many more for the benefit of ICanServe Foundation, Inc. And whadya know, Irene is one of the featured chefs! <3

Pakialamerang Pig that I am, of course I asked her “Eh anong OOTD mo?” To which she replied “simple lang”. Typical, why did I even bother to ask, lels. I said “HELLO! Puro big-time chefs ang kasama mo, hindi ka mag-alembong? Magpa-Hair & Make-up ka kay Jessie Mendez o Ricky Reyes (circa 1969) at magsuot ka ng Chef’s Jacket”. And so our loooong discussion for her OOTD began.

I wanted to gift her a pink Chef’s jacket with elaborate embroidery of her name & logo. Ayaw. :| (All jackets above are available for purchase or order from Chef Works Manila)

But like I said, she doesn’t like pomp & pageantry. She doesn’t like calling attention to herself. So she requested that instead of a Chef’s jacket, I just gift her an apron that she can use anytime, anywhere. Hay, ayaw talagang umalembong ng ale!

Now you know me as over-the-top. I don’t do plain. But for Irene, I can do normal. I can do plain. :P

But where to get a nice apron? Good thing Kap, my knight in shining armor, came to the rescue. His friend CED RAMIREZ just opened CHEF WORKS MANILA, a top culinary apparel resource for hospitality and food service industry professionals worldwide. Chef Works manufactures expertly-designed, first rate clothing (Coats, Pants, Aprons, Kitchen Shirts, Headwear) to properly outfit any Chef & aspiring Chefs from head to toe – all at a fraction of the cost. Magkaibigan nga talaga sila ni Kap!

When I got there, Ced & Geo were just setting up & unpacking from the many boxes of inventory. I’m so grateful that even though they were just on their dry run, they accommodated me.

Because Irene’s STRICT instruction was APRON ONLY, ayan, Apron lang ang binusisi ko! :P

Congratulations to our dear friend CED RAMIREZ & his son Geo for the opening of Chef Works Manila! For all your Chef’s jacket & apron needs, Chef Works Philippines Showroom is now open for business! It is located at 3/F Unit 24 Cedar Executive Building Arnaiz Ave. Makati City (just across Raffles/Fairmont). Open from M-F 10:00 – 6:30 and Saturday 11:00-4:00 Chef Works Manila has stocks readily available for purchase or if you have a particular item in mind, you may order from their extensive catalog.

Because Chef Works Manila features imported apparel, it’ll take around 3 weeks to get Irene’s apron personalized, so I took it to Rustan’s for a quick lahing-pinoy embroidery. Voila!

Made 2 Measure is at the 4th floor of Rustan’s Makati. It only took around 10 minutes (and 280 php) from start to finish. There is also an engraving service right beside it. This is why I love Rustan’s. Yan ang totoong “they’ve got it all for you!” ;)

Irene’s shala Chef’s half apron. 1k. Prices range from 800 php up. Waaaaay less expensive than if you order online thru, say, ETSY! May delivery charge pa. Mag-Chef Works Manila ka na. :)

By the way, if you’re looking for christmas gifts to give this holiday season, look no further. Irene has the perfect christmas gift box for everyone. And I say EVERYONE because it really has ALL the flavors na angkap sa lasa ng bawat nilalang! ;)

Only 350 php for a box of 6 in assorted flavors of Queso de bola, Ube, Calamansi, Coffee with baileys, Matcha and Tablea!

Congratulations to our dear friends IRENE CO of Indulgence by Irene & CED RAMIREZ of Chef Works Manila. There’s no way to go but up, up, UP! :-*
