Bangkok Birthday Escapade Day 2

It rained cats & dogs in Bangkok on our first night. Actually Kap was the one who told me about it kasi nga ang himbing ng tulog ko hehe. I didn’t even notice that it was raining all night long. Si Kap ang madalas namamahay & can’t sleep soundly when away from our home sweet home. He & our dear Neni are the same. Me? Lay me down & I’ll fall asleep in 10 minutes flat, basta malamig & the place is not kadirs, I’m off to dreamlandia agad lalo na after a full day activity (read: walking!).

We thought we will be staying in nalang on our 2nd day since it was so baha outside. We peeked out the window and the roads were really flooded. Aha! chillax mode, I was secretly happy. But Kap’s wandering soul made me shower & get up for breakfast. Magbakasakali daw kami. Ok fine since it’s his birthday weekend, pagbigyan.

Breakfast buffet was included in our 3-day accommodation so we had a leisurely meal while waiting for the flood to subside. Busy sobra si Kap my Kap kaka-text so he didn’t notice the pile up of food on my side of the table teehee. Grabe talaga ang katakawan ko! I need to padlock my mouth & throw away the key!

If there’s a will, there’s a way. Kap asked the hotel staff for the shortest & easiest way up the BTS na hindi kami mababasa. Basta makaakyat lang daw kami sa Sky Train lusot na sa baha at aabot sa destinasyon! The manager took pity on us & let us pass through a secret passage, so we were able to bypass the flooded streets & go up the station dry. Maabilidad talaga tong asawa ko! ;))

Buti nalang the rain stopped. We were contemplating on just spending the day inside these posh twin malls right at the station kung hindi huhupa ang ulan. Emporium and EmQuartier are luxury shopping malls along Sukhumvit Road and is part of The Mall Group’s multi-billion-baht ‘EM District’ project aimed to transform Phrom Phong into one of the biggest retail hubs in the city. If we do go back to BKK with the kids in tow next time around, I will for sure book our stay at Holiday Inn Sukhumvit again. Super lapit lang ito to the hotel & the kids will for sure love these luxury malls. We can let them loose there –buong araw hindi sila magsasawa! <3 I can’t say the same for Kap though, lolz. #highblood

Our agenda today is the Chatuchak Weekend Market. Then relaxed shopping lang for all the kids’ pasa-bilins. Sabi ni Kap: Hindi nga sila sumama pero katakut-takot naman ang mga bilin, di parang ganun din! ;)) He has a valid point, weh.

Chatuchak Weekend Market owes its origin to Field Marshal Phibulsongkram, the late prime minister of Thailand (1938-1944, 1948-1957), who came up with the idea of setting up a flee Market in every town. As a result, the first flee market in Bangkok was held at Sanam Luang and was called Sanam Luang flee Market. However, there was time when the place was needed for other special functions and the flee market was then relocated to Saranrom Palace and settled there for 8 years. After that, it was moved again to Sanam Chai. But because of the limited space, it had to be moved back to Sanam Luang. In the same year, the government issued  a policy to turn Sanam Luang into be the venue to celebrate 200-year-anniversary of Bangkok, which would be held in 1982. Thus, it was decided that the flee market would be held at the Phaholyothin area from then on, and later name Chattuchak Weeked Market after the nearby park under the same name.

Chatuchak Weekend Market (or Jatujak Market) is one of the world’s largest weekend markets which covers an area of 70 rai (27 Acres) altogether divided into 27 Sections, it contains more than 15,000 booths selling goods from every part of Thailand.

Almost everything can be found here at a bargaining local price (not tourist price), and most vendors actually come from local factories like antique wood carving, clay handicrafts, local souvenirs from every part of Thailand. Buddhist amulets, wooden funitures, hand made decorated flowers, plant, ceramic wares, dools, Thai Bejarong, Chinese wares, graden decorated plants, stones, trendy fashions, silk, hill-tribe outfits, fluffy dogs and many more.

Bae made bilin elephant pants. Most that we have seen have garters at the leg base. She wanted straight cut lang though, so when we found several at only 200-250 php each, pinakyaw na namin. 😛

I was tempted to buy sturdy wallets made of stingray, but the colors were so shockingly vibrant. Malayo palang, tanaw na. Baka lalo pang manakaw. Nvm.

Exotic is the name of the game. Crocodile handbag, anyone?

A must go-to destination at every travel, a quick trip to Hard Rock Cafe for Kap’s souvenir shirts. Which he NEVER wears anyway, zomg. Ewan ko ba bakit bili ng bili!

Me: Tamang-tama honey burger nalang tayo for lunch kasi thai food uli tayo tonight.
Kap: Huwag na sweetheart mahal ang burger diyan, sa A&W nalang tayo sa tapat para mura lang.
Me: *resigned to my fate :'( #sadnesseverdeen

So Kap buys his shirt & presents his Hard Rock Cafe rewards card.

Staff: Sir happy birthday! You get a free meal of your choice at our restaurant today!
Kap: (Biglang ang laki ng ngiti, naningkit lalo ang mga mata) That’s good. We really plan to have lunch here. What is free? Anything?
Me: #whatisfreeloader LOL!

Ang resulta? Happy tummy for me yehey!! Hay naku Kap my Kap, hindi ka na ba talaga magbabago?

Thank you Hard Rock Cafe Bangkok for giving in to my craving! Sige na nga, thank you Honey at sa Hard Rock Cafe tayo nag-lunch! #myKAPandonly

Hard Rock Cafe is a rock ’n’ roll-themed chain with a high-energy vibe serving burgers & American classics. Kap used to collect shirts as well from Planet Hollywood, but it doesn’t have as many branches as HRC, so he stopped buying those & just concentrated on expanding his Hard Rock Cafe shirt collection.

May sobrang saya kasi naka-libre sa birthday hahaha! My Kapitan Kunat talaga! ;))

Yesterday was temple run, today naman it’s run for our lives. ;)) The giblings had us running around Bangkok looking for their pasa-bilins. Mission accomplished for the girls. For my Babyson though, sorry nalang anak, better luck next time.

Kaisa-isang bilin ni Babyson, sawi pa huhu, kawawa naman. Went to ALL the Nike stores in Bangkok & spent a better half of our day on a wild goose chase but they don’t carry this limited edition Nike VaporMax. Even online it’s out of stock. I sent my darling son photos of original Supreme products to choose from at a liblib at tagong boutique, kaso wala siyang nagustuhan. Sobrang pihikan, grabe! @_@

We had better chance with the girls’ pasa-bilins. Although Ate‘s list took harder to accomplish coz I am not familiar with the Bangkok brands she had on her list & the store staff from the newly-opened EVE AND BOY aren’t very helpful. Daldal lang sila ng daldal hay, hindi ako pinapansin.

There was a big Sephora store also in the maze-like, nakakalito sobrang Siam Square, which carried the upscale Fenty Beauty by Rihanna brand. I sent Ate several pictures for choices, buti nalang at may nagustuhan. Mission accomplished, finally! \m/ CLICK HERE to read everything you need to know about Fenty Beauty by Rihanna.

EVE AND BOY store: 186 186/1-4 Rama I Rd Siam Square Soi 1 Khet Pathum Wan, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10330, Thailand | Store Hours: 10:30AM–8:30PM | Phone: +66 2 022 4888 This mega make-up store is said to be the Thai version of Sephora. It’s a huge shop filled with rows and rows of make-up and skincare brands ranging from local to international, and low end to high end. Bae’s pasa-bilin was the easiest to get among the 3 kids. I just gave my phone with the pictures of the clothes she likes to the staff & she got to work right away. In under 10 minutes, the pile was as high as a valley, lol. All I had to do was check the sizes, color, and swipe my card. Easy peasy! Thank you Bae for making my life easy after a super long cat & mouse chase kind of day hehe. :-*

Brandy Melville is a clothing company which sells a wide array of tiny crop tops, high-waisted bottoms, and slouchy sweaters -most of which are one-size-fits-all. Thanks to a robust e-commerce business, Brandy Melville is now ranked No. 1 among brands that teen girls like to wear. Product research is made up of all teenage girls, the team consists of about 20 girls who are paid to research and select new styles. Great idea!

My lady friends Leah & Michelle messaged me & said to MAKE SURE we eat at at least once in this yummy fried curry crab place. Of course, I trust their judgement, so sinulit ko ang gutom, hindi kami nag-meryenda, at sumugod sa Somboon Seafood Restaurant in Siam Square One after a loooong day.

Salamat nalang at karamihan ng tindahang hinanap namin were located in Siam Square, although don’t mistake it for a small mall. It’s a freakin’ MAZE comprised of Siam Center/Siam Discovery Center, MBK Center, Siam Square One, and Siam Paragon. Hindi sya isang lugar lang, mind you. One day is NOT enough to cover every inch. Pagoda, I tell you!

Malayo ang tingin. I’m sure kino-compute na nya kung magkano aabutin ang inorder namin. Crab at sugpo eh, lakas na ng kaba nitong OTL ko HAHAHAHAHA! ;))

Of course we ordered the best sellers: Fried Curry Crab and the Stir-fried Fresh Water Prawns with Garlic and Chilli. Extra rice naman jan please??? <3

After stuffing ourselves silly, I really didn’t want to walk another inch anymore, even to go to our hotel. Gusto ko nang matulog right there & then, zzzzz. Plus umuulan pa. Plus ang dami pang bitbit. Plus siksikan na, wala pang maupuan sa tren! NKKLK. Next time we’re leaving on a honeymoon, hindi na kami magsasabi sa mga bata para wala nang pasa-bilins! @_@ Gulpe de gulat nalang hehe.

Thank you my Honey for not getting us lost, and for patiently buying things for the kids even thought it’s YOUR birthday weekend. Isa ka talagang dakilang ama. We are SO lucky! :-*

The End for now. Day 3 coming up, iko-compose ko na. 🙂
