Food & Dining Kap & Me My Kids Staycations & Vacations The GOppets

Baguio 2017 Part 2

The next day..

Our honeymoon the previous night must’ve given my OTL an all time high hehe coz for the FIRST TIME in our married life, he made me coffee!!! \m/

He knows I can’t face the day without my coffee. The kids were still burrowed under the sheets & had no plans of waking up or moving anytime soon. Resulta? My private mini brekky of leftover Vizco’s Strawberry Shortcake at the balcony, served with love.

First time, in the history of mankind lol, in all our years two-gether that he has made me coffee. PRESSED COFFEE pa ha. (Not complaining, I haven’t cooked him anything in all our years together either hehe – I want to preserve his life).

Haba ng hair ko, pumulupot paakyat ng bundok at gumapang pa hanggang ilocos pababa ng banaue rice terraces. Grabeng makaligaw itong kapitan K ko. #luckiestwifeonearth #pogipoints

When the kids finally woke up, we were able to have breakfast together & use the dining room haha. Many thank to the Giblings for the take-outs. :-*

Of course no trip to Baguio gets you home without first buying some pasalubong. After doing our standard touristy thing at Mines View, we headed to the nearby Good Shepherd for the famous peanut brittle, use jam, and lengua de gato.

Good Shepherd Baguio

Gibraltar Rd, Baguio, 2600 Benguet, Philippines +63 74 424 2496 ; (074) 424 1109

The Good Spepherd commissary is run by the Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd (also known as Religious of the Good Shepherd or Good Shepherd Sisters), an international congregation of religious women in the Roman Catholic Church numbering almost 4,000 in 70 countries spanning five continents. The commissary is always bustling with tourists patiently queueing to buy pasalubong for their friends & families back home.

I’m happy there’s a Good Shepherd Tagaytay which is closer to home. I like their peanut brittle, while Kap loves the use jam & eats it off the spoon! <3

Here’s the updated price list for your convenience. :-*

Then it was off to lunch at before heading back home to Manila. As usual with the food-loving GOppets, there was a conundrum on where to eat. The boys wanted to go back to Forest House because it will probably take another 10 years or so before we set foot in Baguio again, so they wanted to make one last round with the yummy Beef Salpicao.

I, on the other hand, wanted to go a different route & eat someplace new so I may share with you my Baguio finds. Ang resulta? Divided GOppets, pero momentarily lang naman. 😉

Amare La Cucina

104AB Albergo Hotel, Villamor Drive, Baguio City, Benguet (0917) 790-0294 ; (0916) 332-1522

Amare La Cucina is a Neapolitan-style brick-oven pizzeria in Baguio opened by Edmark Bustos, a local. The name means “to love a kitchen” in Italian. It is also a combination of the names of the Bustos siblings: Alvin, MARianne, and Edmark. How so very cute! <3 When we open a shop or a resto I’ll call it The GOppets hahaha! ;P

How nice that there is now a decent pizzeria in town. We really loved this chewy 13-inch Foie Gras Pizza 580 php made up of stringy Mozzarella, basil, white truffle oil, and foie gras. Washed down with my Arugula & Lemon slushee 150 php (felt like I was drinking my salad hehe).

Being gals with big appetites, we asked to have 2 very similar pasta dishes as we really like spicy food. The Ragu Bolognese 330 php. Slow-cooked ground beef, Italian sausage, bacon, with fresh parmigiana reggiano. And the Al Arrabiata 285 php. Spicy tomato sauce with bacon, garlic, parsley, paprika, and parmigiano reggiano. The al dente pasta & the spicy sauce were just perfect! <3

Meanwhile, our boys went back to Forest House. They can never have enough of the tasty Beef salpicao! <3 It’s nice for the boys to have one-on-one time, I wonder what they talked about hehe.

Admittedly, I am not the easiest person to live with. Most times (especially now that I’m peri-menopausing) I am super sensitive, cranky & find fault in just about everything. But my Kap just grins & bears my moods & my tantrums.

“Someone who really loves you sees what a mess you can be, how moody you can get, how hard you are to handle. But still, after everything, wants you in their life.” True dat. I feel so loved.

Kap + me = infinity Thank you Honey for all our adventures & for making life always interesting for us. ILYSB! :-*

Whew, and that concludes my long-delayed post on our last local adventure. But sanda-wait! Walang nga palang pasok this November 16-17, saan na naman kaya kami igagala nitong superhero namin? ;P Abangan!

Done reading your Baguio Part 1 & 2. Thank you for always sharing your adventures.
Forest House yata is synonymous to “when-in-Baguio” di ba? I am glad you liked Amare La Cucina. That’s on my list, too. Like your kids, I’ve outgrown Baguio but itong si hubby ang gusto bumalik!!! So I am looking for new restos para naman looking forward ako. AND I heard Strawberry wine meron din. Want some? There’s no promo in The Manor so sa gilid-gilid kami mag-stay! Waaaaaaahhhhh!!! Kala mo ikaw lang ang may Kapitan Kuripot?!? LOL
