My Kids The GOppets

Ang Maglipat Ay ‘Di Biro

Ang maglipat ay ‘di biro. In my lifetime, I’ve moved around 3 times. Yes, just 3 times but with each transfer, it was like a never-ending cycle of packing/unpacking, buying/placing/storing. It took us a month or more to fully adjust & complete our home, laging may nakakalimutan, o laging may kulang.

Now, it’s just a very minor move & yet it’s still taking a lot of effort to furnish a 20-something sq.m. home.

Since the 2 older kids are now going to the same school, it proves more practical to get them a halfway home where they can relax & wait for each other before coming home to mommy.

IMG_4148

Pumayag lang ako to a halfway house because they will still come home to me. Pang hang-out lang nila, or for emergency. So at least I have some peace of mind that they have a place to stay during long breaks in between classes para hindi sila pakalat-kalat sa daan. Or a shelter from the storm should they get stranded.

It’s amazing how a teeny tiny space can cost an arm & a leg now. Para akong hihimatayin. At para akong hindi makahinga with the size of the room..

So we took to task buying stuff to make it somewhat home sweet home for the kids. It comes with this super fugly double deck in sky blue. So pagtyagaan nalang & maybe paint it white & put a nice bedspread. Anyway, a dorm is a dorm. Ay, excuse me, ayaw nga pala ni Ate tawaging “dorm”. Condo naman daw! 😛

Kapitan Kunat took Demanding Diva mattress shopping. He didn’t allow me to buy a nice spring-coiled bed. Hindi naman daw tutulugan. Hayan, nag-testing sila ng kutson sa Uratex! 😛 2 mattresses 5.6k

We went shopping for things. Little things lang for the bedroom/sala/dining/kitchen/bathroom. 5 areas rolled into 1 space. Parang napadami yata ang bili namin! 😛 Magkasya kaya???

IMG_4220

4 carts full! Kulang pa as our list grows of things na nakalimutang ilista! @_@

Then came the grocery. More of junk food & some microwavable items for when their friends visit..

IMG_4192

IMG_4195

2 carts full! With boxes filled with groceries as well. But knowing my kids & how they are with friends, ubos agad yang supposedly until December supply ko! 😛

Grabe, pumutok ang card ko! 😐 But at least they are 80% complete. I’m sure in the days to come madami pang: “Mommy I need”, kaya naka-valium na ako, lol.

Our car situation going home. Natabunan na ang Lovey ko. Thank you girls for helping me. Ang binata ko, deadma. Walang tulong whatsoever! 😐

Our 5-hour shopping spree DURING AN SM SALE deserved a reward. Nakita nyo ba basang sisiw na ang peg ko? It’s no joke going to a mallwide sale, SM pa! Graaabe!

It took us 7 HOURS to complete fixing up such a teeny tiny room, grabe! From installing to maneuvering stuff around, unpacking, washing dishes, cleaning up. What more if it were bigger? @_@ So thankful for all these people (and 1 hidden because we just can’t fit haha) for all the help they have given me!

Enjoy your halfway home kids! <3 It may not be much, but it’s given to you with a whole lotta love!

I know right, Maria? That was our first & foremost consideration nga. So many students who dont have halfway homes get stranded in the school itself kaya this way at least may matutulugan sila in case baha. Hay a mother’s worry is never over mapa-baby o mapa-laki na! 😛

Ms JANE the photo in the elevator, you look so young and fresh. Para kang ate ng mga kiddos mo po.

I hate long breaks. Sometimes i would have 6 hours break and would go to nearby malls and worst I would go home from Mckinley Hill to Las Pinas eh commute lang ako haha ubos allowance agad for the entire week. I wish my parents thought of that haha kaya lang it was expensive to do. Konting sacrifice ko na lang my mom gave me the chance to study in such expensive school.

Hello Ms. Jane! I’ve been reading your blog since last month and I enjoy reading it during office hours (so true hahaha!) and weekends (as long as i have internet access). I instantly became your fan 🙂

I also studied at UST (block section too 🙂 AB Economics). I lived in a house that was turned into a boarding house at Gelinos St. It’s very nice to know that mommies like you are so protective of their kids 🙂 well… who are not, di ba? others kasi are so lenient eh.

I just noticed lang po that there is not much space in the 2nd deck of the bed…. I’m sure that unit would be cozy and beautiful in the days to come 😉

As a mom like you, I also have big appetite 🙂 and if I did not take my breakfast, I can finish that food in 5 minutes hahaha!

    Napahaba na 🙂

Always take care Ms. Jane! Enjoy the rest of the day!

Hi Jhem! <3 Thank you so much for the paramdam. I always get giddy & excited upon "meeting" new friends. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Super appreciate! 🙂 And yes, wala ngang space parang masyado ang space na nailagay nila for the ilalim hehe. About langit yung top deck grabe. Buti nalang they won't be sleeping there kaya hindi masyadong hassle. Pag nakaipon ako I'm get them a better one siguro. I'll see first if ano pa kailangan nila para sabay-sabay na. 🙂

I like to think I am a master at moving house. In my 30+ years of life, I’ve moved 11 times. Does it get easier? Ithink it doesn’t but with every move there are lessons learned. The next more becomes more streamlined.

I recently bought myself a 20-something sqm place. Parang retreat/sanctuary ko. I’m looking forward to furnishing it… Pero malabo na matapos in 1 day because I don’t have 7people to help me, hahaha!

Jana and Jonah, enjoy your halfway place. Believe me when I say that this first taste of a real home away from home is the beginning of your first lessons in adult independence. Don’t forget to keep Mommy Jane up to date re: your whereabouts. Mamimiss nyo yung pangungulit nya pag nagkaron na kayo ng sariling buhay. #hugot hahahaha!

Mommy Jane, looking forward to your Bacolod posts!!!

Just got better from contracting the flu and the first thing I did was to read your posts that I have missed reading…

I’m happy for Ate and Jonah that they have a halfway home away from home. Very much needed specially if one is studying in USTe. Oh, I very much know how hard it can be specially during typhoons and nagbabaha ang paligid ng USTe… A lot of students get stranded talaga. Ako nga po dati nagbo board na sa Dapitan, hirap pa mag wade sa baha. Hehehe.

Anyway, mahirap po talaga maglipat noh? But I nga po may mga nakatulong kayo. Kung wala, naku baka 1 week na hindi pa tapos ang pag aayos.

You still look gorgeous though, Ms. Jane kahit you’re saying na mukha ka ng basang sisiw. 🙂
