71 Gramercy

I have always been curious about 71 Gramercy, a New York-style bar/lounge/restaurant on the 71st floor of  Manila’s highest residential building, the Gramercy Residences by Century Properties. It is, in fact, the highest club in Manila managed & operated by some of the guys behind Opus and Prive.

I have been curious when it opened early last year, and I was still curious more than a year later even after hipper bars have opened left & right. But I felt it was not my scene, and maybe I was a tad old to go too. Kap & I were never party goers anyway. And so it came to pass.

Until one day the Bossman said he was taking me along to his event at 71 Gramercy. One of the best gifts ever coming from el Capo di tutti capi! <3

71 Gramercy is THE place to be for Manila’s party elite. Models, celebrities, top industry luminaries and young social scenesters come together in a venue that offers an unparalleled view of the Makati skyline. The club has an inside lounge and bar area, a restaurant as well as a roof deck with full bar. All areas have amazing views over the city. That, by far, is what all the rest of the bar wannabes don’t have. ;)

A little advice for first-timers. Have your driver drop you off at the building entrance. No driver? Have your car valeted or you will have to go the roundabout via Century City Mall & through a parking lot. A complex maze really especially when you’re in heels (or drunk getting back to the car), before getting to the elevator, switching elevators, and finally going your way up to the top.

So happy to meet 71 Gramercy‘s talented, and might I add HANDSOME chef, CARLO MIGUEL. :) With more than 18 years of professional experience under his belt, Carlo is responsible for the success of Mezzaluna restaurant, Sala and Sala Bistro. He currently co-owns and leads the kitchens for Draft Gastropub and Beso Cucina Vinoteka. Draft is home to Carlo’s European classic pub fare, while Beso showcases Carlo’s modern Spanish comfort food.



It was an Al Fresco night for us. Thankfully, the March air wasn’t as humid as I thought & there was a cool, gentle breeze.



Cecille has always been the perfect hostess. She fits right in 71 Gramercy. <3



Adding to my happiness that night was getting to sit across Rica & James. I always have fun talking to them & I just generally love hanging with this uber nice couple.

Cured Salmon. Green tea cured paper-thin salmon with arugula, fetta, ginger and shallots.



French fine de Claire Oysters 680 php/half dozen. Rockefeller or natural with mignonette granita & lemon.



Prawn Salad. Grilled prawns with guimaras mango salsa & vanilla dressing.




Chilean Sea Bass 980 php. Pan roasted with lemon oil crushed potatoes & eggplant relish.



Gramercy Burger. 200 grams of ground US Angus beef chuck, rib eye & short rib in a home-made brioche bun with gruyere cheese, mushrooms, foie gras & fries.



Breakfast for Dinner. Home-cured and smoked berkshire pork belly with 62 degrees egg, potato hash, mushrooms, and tomato fondant.



Pork & Lobster. Slow roast berkshire pork belly & sauteed main with green pea puree & marsala sauce.



Tagliatelle Truffle Carbonara 320 php. Truffle cream, crisp prosciutto, 62 degree egg & parmesan.



And out came Chef Carlo with the star of the night. The US Angus Choice Grade Tomahawk with sides of fritas, mac & cheese, creamed spinach. 240 php/100 gram.




Omg so succulent & Tender. It was hard to restrain myself from getting more than my allotted portion! <3



‘Twas really good to the last bite! ;))



Chef Carlo must have noticed that Kap & I were savouring the bone too much haha so out came this beautiful 400 gram Rib Eye Steak 1,280 php.






Out of all the desserts this was one of my top favourites. Almont Tart. With strawberries, rhubarb, and burnt butter ice cream.



My Mom’s Apple Pie. An old family recipe served with vanilla bean ice cream.



And my other dessert favorite, #LEGIT Chocolate Cake 290 php. Five textures, three chocolates.



Chocolate & Banana Souffle 320 php. Twice baked with butterscotch sauce & salty peanut butter.

Dining FAQs

What time are you open for dinner?

The Dining Room is open from 6PM to 10PM. Last call for orders is at 1030PM. However, drinks may still be ordered 1030PM onwards, since tables at the The Dining Room may be used during lounge time. (Minimum bottle requirement applies)

Is The Dining Room a non-smoking area?

Yes, it is a non-smoking area. Guests may go to the lounge to smoke.

What is the dress code?

The Dining Room does not have a dress code but we highly encourage our guests to abide by our lounge dress code should they decide to transfer after dinner. Dress code strictly applies by the time the lounge is open which is normally at 10PM.

Is there a reservation fee?

The Dining Room does not require reservation fees. However, for groups of 15 or more, we require pre-orders.

What is the capacity of The Dining Room?

It can seat 50 guests.

Are we allowed to stay in The Dining Room after dinner (10PM onwards)?

Yes, but to keep the table reserved you must acquire the minimum bottle requirement.

As for me & Kap. Yeah, that tugs tugs ship has definitely sailed for us. Hanggang movies & dinner nalang talaga kami. :P
